The Saddle, Forcan Ridge and Sgùrr na Sgìne, Walkhighlands routehummusg26/07/2023
Stayed at the Kintail Outdoor Centre on an OMC Meet. Set off with James Priestly, parked on the A87 and followed the obvious path for the Saddle then turned right to get Biod an Fhithich. Great views west to Dornie and of the five sisters. Returned to the Saddle path and ascended the Forcan Ridge, the ridge was very draining, the rock was was wet and slimey had to stay focused the entire time. Got to Sgurr Na Forcan and dropped down toward the 10m 'step', the sight of this and the remaining bumps toward the Saddle, put me off and we baled using the east bypass path. Returning to the stone dyke and headed north to regain the ascent route. The winds only picked up on the final 500m of descent, 07:40 all inchillyman829/10/2022

From A87 layby a round of Sgurr na Forcan, The Saddle, Trig, Sgurr na Sgine, WT and Faochag.rhalstead22/09/2016
Climbed solo. Started at Malagan Bridge (Glen Shiel). Stalkers path via Bealach na Craoibhe to foot of Forcan Ridge. Ascending the ridge to climb numerous summits (Sgurr nan Forcan, The Saddle E top, The Saddle, The Saddle trig point, The Saddle W top, Spidean Dhomhuill Bhric, Sgurr Leac nan Each). Descended north along ridge towards Sgurr a' Gharg Gharaidh before dropping east down a steep grassy gully into Gleann Undalain. Picked up path (faint at first) heading down glen to Shiel Bridge before heading down road to Ratagan hostel. Return on bike to Malagan Bridge to collect car. Weather dry, warm, mostly sunny, with some mist lower in the valleys, particularly in late afternoon (a partial cloud inversion). Superb climbing on a spectacular and rugged mountain. Scrambling on Forcan Ridge is exposed but not difficult, though wouldn't be pleasant in wind or rain. Views to Ben Nevis, Skye, Torridon. Time ~ 8 hours.jamessteel10018/08/2016

my first ascent, 2 in group, climbed on the way to skye, overcast but a clear day. followed stalkers path up, meallan odhar, then the ridge proper, nice and narrow with an awkward down climb from a minor top, would be nasty in winter! continued on over and up the final steep section, a minor bump then the summit for lunch, descended down a steep and loose gully, contoured into the col and climbed up to a minor top. then south and up hill again, gaining the first top then the summit of sgurr na sgeine. returned along the ridge to faochag and a very steep descent back to glen shiel.rum doodle 12/07/1997

With two friends. From Suardalan Bothy (first rate) along a track through forest on the west side of Bealach a’ Chasain (forest now extends further S than track end), then across the valley to a minor top just to N of Sgurr Leac nan Each. On to Sgurr Leac nan Each, Spidean Dhomhuill Bhric, the W top of the Saddle, the trig point, the main top, East top, Sgurr nan Forcan, NW top of Sgurr na Sgine, main top. Went back to Bealach Coire Mhàlagain. We aimed to cross over to Coire Caol, but went too far east (very misty) so went down to the road and walked along the road to Shiel Bridge (no lifts!). From Ratagan west up by edge of forest and N of Sgurr Mhic Bharraich to reach the bothy at 23:30! Rain and very misty.pwbellarby31/05/1986

With Richard Jones. From the bridge over Allt Mhàlagain up a stalker's track to the Bealach between Biod an Fhithich and Meallan Odhar. Then on to the summit of Meallan Odhar where there is a prominent cairn pointing in the direction of the Saddle. Followed an ill defined path to the remains of a wall. This point marks the start of the ridge leading to the Saddle. Plenty of delightful scrambling. The are several towers, with an easy but very steep descent of one of them. The summit of the Saddle was reached. Descended to Bealach Coire Mhàlagain and followed the Allt Coire Mhàlagain on its south side. Saw four goats. Note: subsequent visits and metric maps show that the prominent cairn on Meallan Odhar is not at the highest point of Meallan Odhar. The highest point is nearer the ridge going up to the saddle and is passed on the way there.pwbellarby01/09/1971
