First of six tops from Stinchar Bridge car park to the north. A extended Donald outing over Caerloch Ddu, Shalloch on Minnoch, Tarfessock and its south top before returning to Shalloch on Minnoch, from here I returned to the carpark via Craigmasheenie, Shiel hill and Cornish hill. Eleven mile taking Seven hours with 3340ft of ascent.WAYNE ROWLETT10/07/2022
Circuit from c0.5m S of Stinchar Bridge. Took rough path to Caerloch Dhu [Shalloch on Minnoch North Top], continued to Craigmasheenie and Shiel Hill. Descended W to N end of Cornish Loch, crossed outflow and took path back almost all the way top the start. Some rain and poor visibility, but some clearance over the lower tops.RobertP22/05/2022
A wild and lonely place. Lovely top and now down to Loch Cornish (hard).Play2End18/03/2022
Stinchar Bridge to Pedens Hut path then rough to ridge where picked up path to Shiell Hill. Easier to Craigmasheenie than expected (excellent hill) then over to pick up Donald Top and down Caerloch Dhu on good path to road and car park.SS02/05/2021
Took the path from the north over Shalloch of Minnoch and then Tarfessock before returning to Shalloch of Minnoch again. We then dropped down to Loch Girvan Eye and climbed Craigmasheenie before returning to the car via Cornish Loch.3 kinnears18/09/2020
Easy parking E. of Water of Girvan bridge at NX 4062 9544 & up Shiel Hill. From Shiel Hill, headed down ridge & picked up a good trod/path at 418941; this was followed down the ridge & across the Nick of the Strand - Made use of faint trods up ridge to a tiny lochan & then across to the summit boulder. Back same way to car. (S)gerrybowes08/09/2020
19 mile, 10 hour walk on the Awful Hand range. I started with part of the Cornish Hill circuit before turning for the hills and climbing to the summit of Shalloch on Minnoch (775m), Tarfessock (694m) and Kirriereoch (786m). Then the fun really began as I dropped down across tough cross country to Tunskeen Bothy and then similar climbing back to Girvan Eye, and then onto Craigmasheenie (539m) and Shiel Hill (507m) before dropping back to the Cornish Hill circuit and completing it. I was very lucky with the weather, the cloud lifted off the summits as forecast, producing some lovely clear views and I even got a few hours of sun whilst on the Hand range.meltdiceburg19/08/2020
9th hill of 12 today on an epic day from Loch Doon Castle, climbing Wee Hill of Craigmulloch, Craiglee, Waterhead (current & previous) then re-traced route back to car looking for car keys! A couple had found them and dropped thrm back in the car so continued on ny return route climbing Craigmawhannal North top, Craigmawhannal, Craigfionn and Maccallum dropping onto a forst track heading Sw then West, N profiling around Loch Slochy. I paid the Rocking stone a visit before heading up steeply scrambling in places to the rocky outcrop then down steeply to wide grassy gully and up the other side to the true summit. Great wild rocky hill! Onwards to Shiel Hill via rough terrain.Dazingdale08/05/2017
From viewpoint N of Loch Riecawr, up via old firebreak at NX 42315 93262, back down over rough ground and on to Macaterick.agentmancuso04/06/2016
From Shiel Hill, trod all the way over higher ground to N of S. Trod continues to contour around the rocky walls North and then South all the way to the top. Back via same trod then across rough ground to pick up trods at approx NX413937 down to firebreak at NX411944 and onto path back to Pedens Hut and finish.Anton08/05/2016
From Stinchar Bridge via Cornish Hill, then awful marshy grass to join rocky ridge. With Tess, 5 hrs, Sunshine all day and cool easterly breeze. Views to Rhins of Kells, Tunskeen Botha etc. Arran, NI, IoM, snowy Cumbrian hills.niallp10/04/2016
