Superb views in all directions for my final metric Graham. Returned to Mam Ratagan by forest track. Beware the chasm between forest edge and start of track. | lordtonult | 08/07/2023 |
from end of track at Mam Ratagan, up track to right, our on to open fell and through many convolutions to the top, although the fence mentioned by others was a good help. Very wet underfoot and for much of the walk out of the sky too. That's the last of the New Grahams done. 2 Old ones left. | IanHHill | 24/06/2023 |
From bend mam ratagan..same as julie. | hils | 12/06/2023 |
Parked at the end of the Forest track opposite the bend at 898201. Along the track for about 0.5km to an ATV track that leads up through the forest, out at a gate around 894203, then continues for some distance to the right of a couple of lumps. When it ended followed deer tracks to pick up unmarked fence leading to the dip below the summit. Then directly up to summit. Retraced steps on return. 5.8 miles. | JulieB | 28/05/2023 |
Park downhill from Mam Ratigan, west from the road high point at 898 200 at a sharp left bend. Gated forest road. Follow the forest road west and further downhill. Turn back sharp right uphill on an older forest track which leads to a gate in the deer fence. Follow an ATV track NW until reaching a fence. Follow the fence to near the SE Top then leave it as it bends left at a right angle. Up hill to the pleasant rocky summit. With Alex & Chris. | Dangerous Dave | 27/05/2023 |
Handy half day walk to spend a few hours on with Dave and Chris just before all congregating upon Kintail Lodge and the Relative Hills Society AGM and annual dinner for 2023. | Alex C | 27/05/2023 |
From tump to theNW, decend to the north to reach ATV track back to lodge the start point for the day Some rough heather. Mist on summit. | cjo | 26/05/2023 |

Route from viewpoint (Bealach Ratagain). Climbed Druim Sgurr nan Cabar, then through edge of relatively open forestry to descend and climb to A'Mhuic. From here largely followed fence for a while on ascent to Beinn a' Chuirn, also visiting summit to SW. Returned the same way, but from Druim Sgurr nan Cabar descended to road, crossed and climbed Sgurr a' Bhraonain North Top and Sgurr a' Bhraonain. Returned to road and start point. Bright sunny weather. | RobertP | 21/04/2023 |
As Nordicstar and Lionel from the large layby.Steep start and then a nice wander up the NW tributary of the Allt Sasaig which was carpeted in primroses.Round and over various knolls to the trig.Good views. | ARM | 20/04/2023 |
From the Moyle junction on the Glenelg road. Up steep grassy slopes to rocky summit plateau before managing to eventually find the trig. Great hill, enjoyable short outing. | Matt2901 | 18/06/2022 |

From layby/bridge/gate at 880198. Not the best of starting points I think. Remains of a track for a few hundred yards but after that just across country. Crossing the lines of several streams meant plenty of other ups and downs but no real problems. Nice views to Loch Duich to the NE,. Without the trig point it would not have been easy to pibn dowbn the true top. | dickscroop | 08/05/2022 |
From ATV track to forest gate as below. Very rough first mile, then drier but intricate ground. Easier going beside unmapped fence, which goes from fence corner at about NG 886 206 almost to summit. Still need to navigate at end. | PeteN | 13/04/2022 |
MC Using ATV track as per others. Through gate then continue to follow ATVT straight, then right and left. Becomes indistinct. Bearing for summit. Soon see a fence on the LHS. Keep in view until it turns sharply left.down a small 'strath'. Continue to summit.
Very red deer, pale (fawn) bees and midges galore. Summit under light cloud but cleared.wet underfoot despite extended dry spell. Rough going and complex.topo on upper areas. | Martin66 | 03/09/2021 |
From parking at track just over Mam Ratagan. Followed track as others for 600m where ATV track heads up and out of woods to gate in deer fence (slightly overgrown start). Several bumps on undulating moor using a vague vehicle track before following fence to within few hundred metres of summit. Great views, hot day. | N.Morters | 06/08/2020 |
From SE. Good atv off track thru' forest at NG 8934 2002. Leave atv at NG 8912 2055 and head NW to atv at NG 8906 20656 (found on descent, so not sure of destination). Unmapped fence - approx. NG 8883 2064 aids navigation most of the way up | carole engel | 28/07/2020 |
320m start - from Mam Ratagan pass, NG898200. On forest road, W, 600m, until it starts to descend for 2nd time, circa NG893200, where a good ATV track cuts back up R, steepening, to exit forest, through a gate and onwards. Where this descends for a 2nd time, just before a dark wall of heather and rock steps, a faint fork goes L up a re-entrant, then escapes R. When it dives R off a heather ledge, I linked up grassy areas to a fence with gate (no need to cross), which handrails over the S top, then free-ranged the last 200m. Avoided almost all the horrible tussocky heather. Complex top, take GPS in mist. (This ATV track is barely discernible, inbound). | Isbjorn | 18/06/2019 |
From 872198. Steep at first but more interesting near the summit. My final Marilyn in Region 10. | NormanW | 12/06/2019 |
Parked off the road by a gate below the Allt Cnoc Fhionn. Followed a short ATV track onto the hill then a fairly direct line to the summit, over the upper tributaries of the Allt Sasaig to the lochan by pt 530m short down to the fence, then to the top. A few patches of rough stuff, but grassy low down and possible to link grassy areas on the way up, to easy going near the top. Superb views across Loch Duich. | Gill | 24/05/2019 |
Parking spot at 880198 against a wired gate near the bend and burn. The gate on the north side gives easy access. Direct line to the summit with Gill. Great views! | bolton | 24/05/2019 |
P at end of a long passing place to S of summit. One of those hills which is a Simm but is under Graham height. Fine hill. | ger | 21/05/2019 |

3/3 from 8721 1983 verge parking, up LHS of burn then up over many bumps to the top. | robertphillips | 22/09/2017 |
Bagging the trig. Parked at the sharp bend just over Mam Ratagan and followed the marked forest track for about 0.5k. A faint track then cuts up through the trees and ends at a forest gate which leads onto the hill. This is very rough hill ground. Going roughly north west we soon came across a fence (not marked on the map) and followed this over various bumps to the trig. Superb 360 views all round. | BigJ | 31/05/2017 |
From cattle grid near Pt192. Directly up steep grass and over a gate at 885208, then along north side of fence which leads most of the way to the summit. | Topographer57 | 27/05/2016 |
Pretty much straight up the shortest line from the road, starting at about 100m where there is space to park. Good going most of the way, and could see the trig from a long way off, so nav was easy. | jenx | 19/05/2016 |
Very simple line to the top, a hill where it's worth starting lower for a better climb. Route as suggested by Lionel B. Good parking at 8721 1983. Then through gate and angle up left steeply aiming at small crags and a burn line that can be followed on good grassy ground to 500m and an open flat area. The trig is in view from here and a simple drainage line can be followed easily crossing a fence line twice. Great views down to Dornie and its castle. Rain just getting started so back down quick in just over two hours. | nordicstar | 19/05/2016 |

Parked at cattle grid just beyond trees, NG884197 and went up side of the trees. Then you're on you're own. Mostly sunny, cool, sharp summit breeze, good views. | iangalbraith | 12/10/2014 |
From NG 87985 19787 there is a path for a short while, then you are on your own initiative. And it is up to you to decide whether it was worth the effort. I thought it was. | Martin R | 21/09/2014 |
Up steep slopes from the minor road to the south | AndrewFinnimore | 30/01/2014 |
Climbed from about NG880198 where a new track ascends steeply. Directly up to the East ridge - a mistake as it was very rough above 500m. On descent cut down South to escape the rough ground then made a long descending traverse on easy grass to reach the start point. | Chris Peart | 29/11/2012 |
From minor road to south | BLACKHILL | 10/06/2011 |
At NG 8383 2000 there is a sign advertising a fully waymarked hill walk to Beinn a'Chuirn. There are no waymarks and the going is fairly rough. It is much better to climb from NG 8721 1983 which is where we descended to fairly easily. | Lionel Bidwell | 21/08/2010 |

Revisit. Fine rocky summit, great view, foul weather, lightning: my shower-dodging luck finally ran out. | RHW | 30/12/2006 |
from SE top. ~Over fence to craggy top 8 deer. Large boulders scattered near Vanessa 9760. 11.30. Magnificent view including E D castle and Dun Caan. | arranc | 16/07/2006 |
With a friend. From the Shiel Bridge to Glenelg road. There are quite a lot of minor tops but the summit of Beinn a' Chuirn is obvious with a trig point. | pwbellarby | 22/05/2006 |
fine summit, superb view. beeline from 883197, return +/- via ridge ?better | RHW | 05/05/2002 |
