After sleeping on GCM. Woke to find clag down, waited for it to lift then nipped up Ciche without rucksack. Views all round but some low cloud coming and going. Windy. Back to Strathan after, by which time was very sunny and hot with stiff breeze keeping midges off. Rounsfell17/08/2023

1/2 - from roadhead before Strathan, through Glen Dessary (quite a long walk-in). Through increasingly deep but soft snow, found the gully leading up to Feadan na Ciche, a few slightly awkward steps in the soft snow but manageable. Snow was better neve after the col. Summitted this first then returned to col.....wychwood17/01/2023

6/6 A tough but amazing mountain day in the rugged fringes of Knoydart. Left the car with many others along the end of the public road at the west end of Loch Arkaig. Biked from there past Strathan, Glendessary Lodge to Upper Glendessary, altogether saving 10km of walking. Followed the usual track up the steep ridge of Sgurr nan Coireachan via its South Top, then steeply down to the Bealach and along the lovely rocky ridge over Garbh Chioch Bheag (and its E Top) and up to the second Munro Garbh Chioch Mor. Then steeply down to the next Bealach and up to the stunning Sgurr na Ciche, the highlight of the day. Finally, the long walk back, initially down the incredibly steep gully and then by the easy but never ending track back to the very welcome bike at Upper Glendessary. A perfect day for the hills with extensive all round views of the west Highlands and Islands. Altogether 27km with 1600m ascent, taking 10h 20m.silveracorn_alan03/06/2022
From Loch Arkaig, Glendessary track then path above woods, boggy, on to Bealach, very boggy due to Cape Wrath trail marathon, intermittent track to ridge and then small path across to gully. Up this to Feardan na Ciche. Up good path and to boulder scree, ok path eroded scree to summit. 3pm decided we still had time to complete ridge and got back to car at 9.30pm.Flatfield24/05/2022
From parking at W end of Loch Arkaig, up Glen Dessary, to Bealach an Lagain Duibh, corrie up to ledge at NM902962, then scrambled up shallow gully of snow covered rocks to Feadan na Ciche - L up the upper of two snow ramps, then mixed ground R to steep exit wall and final summit cone of Sgurr na Ciche. Back to the Feadan, on to Garbh Cioch Mhor, keeping mainly to S side of wall, back to Feadan and back down gully. 11.4 hours.Isbjorn Winter Round16/03/2022

Ascended at 6.30pm from Garbh Chiock Mhor and then down NE ridge to do Ben Aden. That wall just keeps on going, but eventually ends half way down. I hope the chaps that built it were well paid for their efforts in the middle of knowhere, but I doubt it.mindlessflogger11/07/2013
Solo. 1st of 3. Don't believe all you read about a bike. I went in via the South forestry track and it's not worth going beyond where you pass the bothy. Ascent up gully, nice and cool but could be tricky in Winter. Epic views from the summit!bowzi07/07/2013

With Yeltzbagger. Climbed with Garbh Chioch Mhor. Hired a boat to take us to head of Loch Nevis; frightening getting out of the boat at low tide up a slippery ladder. I swore I wouldn't get the boat back but after checking tide timetables we realised it would be full tide coming back in two days time. Glorious trip. Camped first two nights at Sourlies, ketzster came with us but went climbing other hills.Stevie n Tay29/05/2013

Trig revisit-3 for the price of one! I found about a dozen chunks of a stonebuilt pillar (including one with part of the centre hole) which will have been S6148. This was replaced with a Vanessa using new FB S9789 - this is now lying 10m down-slope (due S), intact including its reinforcing bars but missing the FB and spider. This was evidently replaced by a second Vanessa, presumably reusing S9789. The remains of this 2nd Vanessa have been converted to a block, with its re-bars remaining in situ. I found half a dozen large chunks of the 2nd vanessa, including one with the imprint of the spider underside and a top loop. Luckily I was fairly early at the summit so was able to amuse myself classifying bits of ex trig without incurring the displeasure of Munro baggers et al. On a perfect spring day I continued along the superb ridge to the much more normal S9754 Fhuarain before returning to my Arkaig starting point.RHW24/03/2012

After a bivvy in upper Glen Kingie at NM948953. Over An Eag, Sgùrr nan Coireachan, Garbh Chioch Beag to reach Sgùrr na Ciche. From summit of Sgùrr na Ciche I returned to the col with Garbh Chioch Mhòr and went down the ravine SW. I then turned SE. There is something of a path and, indeed, on starting to drop down towards the River Dessary there are signs of efforts to allow a vehicle of sorts to get that far. Some bits have been cut but a lot of it is just driving over rather boggy ground. I followed the path in Glen Dessary that keeps to the north of the forest and passes near Upper Glendessary. Considerable work is in progress on the track between Upper Glendessary and Glendessary. Just to the north of Glendessary is a new lodge, quite large.pwbellarby24/06/2005

approx date. First tried to climb this on my ill - fated Ultimate challenge expedition, but discovered a bunch of roped people screwing ice screws in to it half way up. I said hello and the retreated to the Beallach. Finally got up there on my second Knoydart expedition, I think a year later. View positive - I thought it was rather rugged - pity about the poncy name! Climbed the one next to it as well - leaving rucksack in Beallach. This was before the old man at Sourlies had persuaded me of the wisdom of leaving my rucksack there.banksey01/08/1989
