From track (gate was open but I'm not that brave) so good walk as per others out track and up fire break to Hartshorn Pike then along path to trig. Rain started so wet weather gear back to car but had dried out by then. Visited Mag and the Bairns cairn on way back via quarrry.SS17/08/2019
Parked at the head of the track T-junction at 590028 rather than by the relatively narrow track entrance - Up forest track to Wheelrig Head & then forked left up wide firebreak alongside old fence posts to Hartshorn Pike - A decent path heads along ridge to the trig point and passes the craggy bump which is of a similar height. Long walk in from Kittyhirst Cottage. Came over Deadwater Fell, Mid Fell & Peel Fell. Difficult walk back to the west of Peel Fell. Solo.Dangerous Dave28/04/2017
From near Wheelrig as chrisbien. Craggy bump on ridge about 200m before trig and a heathery one 50m to SE both seem as high as trig. Continued to Knox Knowe, a lot rougher going.Aye Jimmy06/10/2016
gate open today drove to wheelrig head, firebreak then faint path along ridge to the top. outcrop looks higher.robertphillips09/07/2016
Sunshine interspersed with heavy sleet and strong winds. Followed Chris's route from B6357, track to Wheelrig Head and fire break onto Hartshorn Pike then along ridge to Carlin Tooth. Dropped down early via a firebreak on the way back to get out of the wind.agentmancuso11/04/2015
