A steep little sod all round. Parked on main road and path alongside forest. Up east side and down north side Very slow going. | chriswatson | 19/07/2023 |
Parked in layby on main road. Up RoW to footbridge then large zig-zag up to gate in wall, which we followed very steeply to the summit. | Minto | 16/07/2023 |
With Minto & Jill. Parked in lay-by on A499, just south of pont y Felin, Gyrn Goch. Public footpath to north took us through the trees, over a footbridge and onto open hillside. Steep track uphill to west of wall. Lovely summit with great views. | Dangerous Dave | 16/07/2023 |
easy park to east near mast started on row path not where map shows, stile over wall 100m west of summit of Bwlch Mawr then Gyrn Ddu and Gyrn Coch return east using row some big stone walls however plenty of breaks no need to climb | underhill | 29/12/2022 |
Got chased by cows high up on the mountain , couldn't believe it. Hid behind a wall till they moved on , and so did I . Rocky top right on the edge looking over the sea. | Mark Sims | 11/11/2022 |
From road end at SH 407449 over Moel Bronmiod, Gyrn Goch, Gyrn Ddu E top then Ma top, Moel-Pen-llechog and back via Llethr-ddu. We encountered our first major wall on this leg, but crossed easily enough at wall corner (412464). We then contoured to the S. col at 429 m., avoiding all problems mentioned on SE slope. We picked up a faint path heading for a break in the wall ahead and on to the rocky summit. The view down to the sea and over to Anglesey was magnificent. Going back to the col, we found another faint path going to the col S along the ridge top. Splendid, especially on this sunny day with good distance visibility. With Pete. A great walk in this rather wild, rough area. | pwheeler | 18/03/2022 |

Parked in a layby in Gyrn Gorch and used the footpath through some woods. Took the track upwards to the laft of the footpath, covered in ferms but there's a clear path to summit. This one was steep and hard. It was really hot and humid, ended up with sunstroke and dehydration. Once you're up there, there's other hills to cimb and it's nice to be surrounded by them, no one else for miles. | Skarletk | 04/09/2021 |
A circular walk visiting Gyrn Ddu, Gyrn Goch & Bwlch Mawr, from the small parking area at SH 397 452. Returning via the footpath to the south. A grand aerial view of the north coast from a nice rocky summit. 12km with 550m ascent in 3h30m. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 17/09/2020 |
Rough ascent on access land from A499 at Gyrn Coch village | PeteN | 30/12/2019 |
rocky outcrop and cairn at top- by wall. Superb views with evening sun lowering over the sea and setting as we descended N. A great circuit, this the last of the day. Some rough tussocky boggy sheep pasture on ascent from SE. | Denise | 08/04/2018 |
Direct line from Moel Bronmoid contouring the E side of Gryn Ddu. Equally direct descent down to the excellent Aberafon camp site. | RichardM | 08/04/2018 |

With Trefor. Parked at aerial to the east of Bwlch Mawr and climbed that summit first then across moorland to Gyrn Coch. Back via footpath to the south. Good weather and great views. | mike.hoult | 08/04/2017 |
A difficult 3hrs walk with Christopher H in cloud over the 3 tops of the Gyrn Ddu group. An easy climb from the saddle to a nice top. Descent down N slope is very steep - may be easier to follow the wall NW then NE. | Mark Jackson | 24/08/2016 |
Parked at end of farm track for Llethr-ddu then followed row to Fron-heulog. Straight ascent to Gryn Ddu with slippery boulder hopping at end. Descended east then north and up Gyrn Goch then back and round by walls to Bwlch Mawr (best 'stile' is 100m to west). Returned by row but diverted to take in Moel Bronmiod cutting down directly to Llthr-ddu on descent. | SS | 07/08/2016 |
Circuit including Gyrn Ddu and Bwlch Mawr. Started at 438475, followed path W in heavy mist. Amazing views from summit once mist cleared, feels a lot higher due to proximity to sea. | JamesD1972 | 18/07/2016 |

Start ~ 405487.Used Row alongside the Afon Hen to gain the hillside before following the walls up to the summit of Gyrn Goch, a somewhat sporting ascent. Moved on to Gyrn Ddu and then walls and paths to Bwlch Mawr. All the summits are rocky with great views, took a direct descent to follow forest edge to meet outward route. with Jamie while on CRMC AGM weekend. interesting clockwise cicuit starting with long chat with owner of the lower house and woodlands, then with HuMP Bwlch Mawr, that ended with uncomfortable push through thickening increasingly high gorse on the lower NW slopes | vegibagger | 05/05/2012 |
With: hb sb ab; Parked just off main road then followed the path towards the base of the SW ridge and followed this ridge up to the summit. Visited the cairns to the NE as well then descended via Gyrn Goch. Very misty on top. | Ian Baines | 19/02/2005 |
