White trig by mound of stones near edge of pine forest in access land - short grass with some gorse. Extensive views. Approached from track to SE which has unfriendly sign - holiday caravans.Denise 18/11/2023

From New Road, steep but fairly direct on MTB(?) trails.jacobrichmond16/11/2023
Bashed my way up through thorny vegetation. More sensibly took the good path back! From Rhyd-y-foel.David Bremner06/10/2023

Previous attempts from Rhyd-y-foel were thwarted by gorse, so opted for the New Road & zig-zag path route.tim74717/01/2022
Walked up steep zig zag from drive opposite New Road and down via the gentle slope to Rhyd-y-foel. Took my dogs and it was great--no stiles or sheep. Great views over Llanddulas and towards Great Ormemborg22/08/2021

Walked up from outside Gwrych Castle - I was glad to get to the top. Very windy by the pillar. I walked back down a different way.Alancache25/04/2018
From New Road up drive and past house. Kept to zig zag path and, although they are large zigs and zags, it got me up there easily enough. Nice views.clivevilla28/03/2018
Parked w Jenx off to SW on village green of Rhyd-y-Foel. Found path into woods w concrete steps nr main road, easy from there. Near top of diagonal line possible to cut more directly to top avoiding gorse scrubnordicstar22/03/2018

Up from New Road (plenty of parking). Immediately after starting up the driveway to a house went up a steep zig-zag path on the left. A nice top. Tried to go down the access land on the NW side of the fence and wall going from the top to Rhyd-y-foel but had to turn back as I couldn't get through the woodland.Alan Moore26/01/2018
Fron Rhyd y Foel up through wood. Excellent views. With RW.JohnIvor13/01/2018
Parked at end of New Road, used route suggested by andrew brown. Zig-zags a bit complicated, passed an ogof, steeply up. Short tough non-prickly vegetation helpful - what is it? Then along shoulder to top.Aye Jimmy31/12/2017

A quick bag from suburbia (Terfyn) footpath zigs and zags up edge of old quarry through Pines / Yew / Juniper / wild cotoneaster? Followed wall / edge of forestry to summit and trig. Fine views.briandavies24/12/2017

Tried to get up track from S, but gave up due to brambly overgrown southern end of path. Had a second more successful go from Terfyn.PeteF30/04/2017
From sea level, through middle gates and head up steep path, heading east passing tower. noone seems to do it this way.. struggled a bit, getting very unfit. carneddau invisible! Way back above Gwrych Castle.. its going to cost a fortune to get it repaired..mattcymru13/02/2017

Straightforward walk up from rhyd y Foel followed track from bottom of village green. Clear views on a sunny spring like day although a bit cooler on the top. Short diversion through the woods to the tower on the way back.Walker Dan20/01/2017

Keep to paths! Leave any attempted shortcut to the rabbits and the gorse!jrj13/10/2016
From Rhyd-y-foel. You need to take the paths from the N side of the triangle. Concrete blocks, presumably to deter trail bikes (good!)- the paths lead straight onto access land, interesting scrub and limestone grassland higher up. No signage but well used paths, good info about hill in Valentine (pub- also well worth a visit) in Llanddulas.pwheeler12/09/2016
Bagged as YSM372 Cefn-Yr-Ogof T2.5 D3. The Hill bagging website said 'Park on wide streets of housing estate at 913778. A tarmac road leads up diagonally to a house and a narrow gate and path to the left continues up through the wood with 2 zig zags and to the top.' So we tried the hoose nearest the top of the hill but he was reluctant to let us park and we'd probably have had to walk through his garden to get into the wood. However after some sweet talking from Mr U2 he let us know about a secret path between two boulders down at 'the green' which went up the hill and along to the trig. So we took this (N53° 16.747' W3° 37.918'). Took a man path in one section which was very steep but direct otherwise relatively painless.thejackrustles03/08/2016
With K. Magical area that really deserves it's SSSI status; much botanical excitement. Worth exploring for a while. Many routes with no access problems. Area is obviously well loved.Ashley12/07/2016
