Fantastic clear views fr summit w bit of fresh snow; WSW ridge horribly boggy up to about 500m, which was a nightmare especially in descent.NorfolkPT2107/01/2024
From end of the Loch Arkaig road. Walked vehicle track for ~980m till small cairn in ditch (NM 9792 9163), then took a direct line up keeping on SE side of Dearg Allt.jonglew01/12/2023
With Jill R, Bolton, CJM & MissAdventure. Super weather. From Loch Arkaig road head. (11km,820m).ger30/11/2023
From Strathan with CM, Jill R, Ger and Helen B. Up the intermettent stalkers path to around 450m and then directly to the summit. Glorious sunny day - again! Now wind, cold but great conditions. The indistinct path starts with a cairn just before the Dearg Allt.bolton30/11/2023

Wallked il by right of way to Tomdoun which rapidly degenerated into a maze of very boggy ATV tracks. Soggy and sloggyin equal measure, the top was pleasant surprise rising above the Glen below. Visibility limited to the west and despite easterly gales stayed more or less dry.kenmorti28/10/2023
With K+J. From Strathan, just under 6 hrs. Bourach of boggy tracks made by heavy tracked vehicles for 2/3 of walk. Good walking higher up and a cracking summit despite the lack of views and general mirk. Knees struggling with final steep descent.niallp28/10/2023
Solo from camp at Strathan. Ascent via Dearg Allt path which was heavily 'mauled' by large excavators involved with 'conservation work' on the SW slopes of the hill. From summit retraced steps to Dessarry/Kingie watershed and ascended steeply up the east slopes of Fraoch Bheinn. Decent via S. ridge.John Lee08/09/2023
Time includes more than an hour dozing on second summit. Before Fraoch Bheinn by Via Webstri. Dire forecast for high winds not borne out in reality, although pretty blowy lower down. Summits pretty calm. Weak sunshine with lenticular cloud. Interest added by three digger drivers landscaping open hillside to prevent climate change. Rounsfell18/08/2023
A pity about the churned, boggy state of the approach path, ridge itself was fine, a nice walk.dickscroop08/09/2022
after Fraoch Bheinn, with Alisdair. From car park at the end of the road.jef16/08/2022
Solo round of Sgurr Mhurlagain and Fraoch Bheinn from car park at end of Loch Arkaig road. Followed road to Glen Dessary, then up the track to Tomdoun - decided to do Fraoch Bheinn first to get the steepest parts out of the way. Blue morning skies made for some stunning views. Descent down to the bealach of bog was fine, some deer grazing all around the glen. Cut across the bog ENE to join the Sgurr Mhurlagain ridge at a higher point than the popular routes. Hit the summit at 4h 30mins in, took some pics and started the fairly quick (and boggy) descent back down. Total time 5h 52min.mproudfoot31/07/2022

Up the Dearg Allt path until its highest point, then NE over rougher ground with occasional animal tracks to assist to Sgurr Mhurlagain. Returned back to the glen path before deciding to go straight up a rock band directly to Fraoch Bheinn. We took in the north top before retreating down the south flank to just north of Meallan Dubh.summitter31/07/2021
From Fraoch Bheinn, following the walkhighlands route, no difficulties. Descended SW towards the parking area, from 400m height took a direct pathless, grassy line to join the road about quarter of a mile from the parking rather than head for Dearg Allt.Owen B26/05/2021

With a friend. We drove to the end of the public road at the end of Loch Arkaig. The road is deteriorating. We walked up the path near Dearg Allt. Walked up the broad SW ridge of Sgùrr Mhurlagain to reach the summit. It was misty on top with rain and somewhat cold. We went down Druim Coire an Stangain Mhòir, now out of the mist and the rain stopped. We went off north before the end to reach the River Kingie. We had intended to cross the river and climb Gairich but the river was too deep. We walked upstream to near Kinbeck bothy before finding a place where it might have been possible to cross. The walk by the river had been slow due to peat hags etc so by now it was quite late. We decided to continue upstream and eventually made a bivvy a short distance below the col between An Eag and Sgùrr Còs na Breachd-laoidh.pwbellarby23/06/2005
