Cairngorm Club ‘Easter’ meet based at Spean Bridge Hotel. From end of the Loch Arkaig road. Solo. Used Sheet 40 of OS 1:50,000 map 1976 issue, which does not show the forest in Glen Pean. Passed Strathan and followed a track through the forest, rather than the path near the burn shown on the map. I found a break in the forest and so descended to the river. I used some stepping stones to cross the river. I ascended the NNE ridge of Sgùrr Thuilm. There was a little rock scrambling and a few steps were cut high up - the snow was too hard for kicking. There was some snow on the slopes leading to the summit above ~600m. So reached the summit of Sgùrr Thuilm. Descended over Meall an Fhìr-eòin.pwbellarby06/04/2002

My 1st trip to Scotland -backpacking through Knoydart with Tony for 7 days carrying all food (dehydrated)& 16 mars bars. This was 1st day by train to Glenfinnan.Camp set up at col to Streap. At 4pm I set off alone and did the Thuilm - Coireachan traverse following the iron fence posts over all the tops in between. Great rocky and grass ridge with minor scrambles and clear views - felt humbled and awed by all I could see -range after range of unknown mountains- too much to see and take in. Started to work out a few of the obvious features as to what was what - Skye Cuillin Ridge, Sgurr na Ciche. Returned same way but skirted additional bumps. Dropped down a bit too soon -loose gully. back for 8.10pm. Had a tinned dinner treat for first night of corned beef, mash, beans &, mandarin oranges.Chris Pearson18/07/1983

1987-1988 Climbed this in poor visibility with Ron. Made a major error in either not having a compass or a map - had one, but I can't remember which. Anyway, coming down off the hill, southwards towards the glen with Corryhully, we had problems getting onto very steep ground, and spent a lot of time messing around trying to avoid that. Good lesson.spstrachanblank
