Lesley and I incorporated this walk on our exploration of Croft Castle grounds, after doing the Fishpool Dingle circuit. We took a path (overgrown in places) back onto the Blue route and then easily up on a circuit of the hillfort including the top, with grand views. Vast hillfort, although the Romano-british shrine as per Pointer no 4 is only a bush to look at so please do not get your hopes up. Grand trees abound including many veteran Oak and Sweet Chestnuts. We will return to do the Red route some other day!Dazingdale22/07/2020
Deep and obvious grass covered earthworks with great views N. Ascent through pleasant woods ( ancient hornbeam) from unfenced road to east of access land to the east.Denise 30/06/2020
From the NE having first visited the trig on Dionscourt Hill. (No problem parking on the unfenced Common at end of Leys Lane) Superb ancient Hornbeams where Fishpool Valley meets the ridge. Great views from summit including the large quarry to the N.RichardM30/06/2020

Walked from Yatton, ample parking & choice of routes. The track just south of Yatton is easy to follow, there were not too many brambles barring the way.JohnStoneham05/08/2012
Up from Croft Castle using NTS membership. WARNING! Be aware that the NT charge for land access here. You have to pay the castle admission fee if parking or at Croft or walking up the hill by this route. This is £5.50 per person (2012). The National Trust has made parking elsewhere difficult, but you can park at the old Croft School on the B4361 SO 45935 65334 and skirt the ransom strip through Fishpools Valley.fasgadh05/05/2012
