Bidein a' Chabair & Carn Mor solo from Strathan on a very hot day(25C). Cycled to A'Chuil and walked to edge of forest then straight up Meall na Sroine rough and steep to the summit with short very easy scrambling to the summit. Retraced steps to about NM898935 and descended south, very steep and rough ascent to Carn Mor summit. Still very hot and windless. Descend east along the ridge and over point 616 and down to the forest to bike near A'Chuil. Long tough day!John Lee06/09/2023
Bidein a' Chabair & Carn Mor with Jon M from the car park at the end of the Arkaig Road. Cycled into the end of the forest (taking our time as we had Alfie the retriever with us). 35m easy ride. We walked along the track into the second forest and cut off straight up Meall na Sroine - bit rough but not very steep. From there we loosely followed the ridge, point 674, then along and up to the summit. Light hands-on-rock up there but nothing we (and Alfie) has any issues with. From the summit, we headed back down to the low point before pt 674m and threaded our way down the south slope. Very sustained, steep and rough ascent up Carn Mor - had lunch on the summit. Descended east along the ridge and down by the forest to our bikes and cycled back out. 7h 11min of walking and about 1h 20 on bike.mproudfoot29/05/2023
As a there and back walk from the end of Loch Arkaig, along the track along the south side of Glendessary, cross the burn and up Meall na Sroine, along the very undulating and outcropped ridge to the spectacular summit and back. Outstanding views throughout, think it’s my new favourite hill. Less so on the long walk back out, must bring a bike more often. 28.5km, 7h 30.Rockdoctor07/04/2023
Parked: NM987916, Biked to NM930933. (Was going to use track to NM917934 but couldn’t find it!) put in base camp at NM924944. Then had 13.5 hour day over the Simms from Meall na Sroine to Sgurr Mor and then back via the glen to the south.BaggerGutt17/07/2022

Cycled from Strathan to end of track shown on map, them NW to forest exit. Up steeply to 500m then a long and complex ridge towards an intimidating looking summit. Followed footprints up east face to about 850m, then unsure that I could continue safely so dropped down and contoured anticlockwise at about 830m, before ascending a steep grassy gully up the north face. Back via Upper Glendessary.Topographer5721/06/2021
Bike to end of good track then rougher track to end of forest then up and along ridge. 'Scramble' a bit of a non event.daviemore19/06/2021
Mountain bike from Strathan to River Dessary crossing. NW along the rough forest track, then steep grassy slopes, skirted point 674 to the south (not very good, so tried skirting to the north on return which was as bad but more circuitous, will never know if going straight over the top is the best option) and along the broad but lumpy ridge. Went to the right of the summit cone, ended up with some scrambling, missed the rough path directly up the prow. Returned by same route.Owen B27/05/2021

8 hr walk from car park at end of Loch Arkaig. Met guy from Cumbria who was doing the same hill and had cycled the track as far as the river, and we did the walk together. Complex ridge but the navigation went fine, a bit of easy scrambling at the top. Mostly cloudy with some drizzly rain, but some nice viiews down to Loch Nevis.douglas_easton23/05/2019
Standard route from Srathan. Interesting and complex ridge.benalder28417/05/2019

Tough but spectacular day in bright sunshine and heat from Strathan. Forestry track on S side of Glen Dessarry, then climb to Meall na Sroine. Easy going albeit intricate along ridge running SSW to Bidein a' Chabair (took bypass route for final scramble on ascent, but descended the scramble on return; not difficult). Spectacular traverse to Sgurr na h-Aide, fantastic summit with great views. Then long walk back to Strathan, this time along N side of Glen Dessarry. Currently no bridge at Glendessarry (being replaced).RobertP25/05/2017
Knon-slip Knoydart: all the bogs were completely dry after a long spell of dry weather. I didn't quite escape the rain, however, but it didn't spoil the view. Is it just me, or is this a tough hill? But the little scramble at the top was very nice.Gill12/05/2017
Superb summit. Go round the east side at approach to summit. Saves an awkward scramble.Campbell Singer19/04/2017
Ascended after Carn Mor solo. Nice narrow ridge and tops west of main summit to Sgurr na h-Aide. Returned to Oban Bothy.raffemeister12/06/2015

From a' Chuil bothy. Clear and sunny. MC JC DC. Day 2 of 4. Walked into A'Chuil bothy and dropped kit. Walked up the fine E ridge to an excellent summit point. Spent half an hour on top and took an obvious rake S into the glen. Came across a day old deer calf - all legs! Overnighted at A'Chuil. Two other guys in residence. Midges terrible.Martin6612/06/2010
With Martin66 & JC - as per his report from A'Chuil. The descent route was a bit flaky but got off the hill before the rain started. And then it rained & rained & rained. Didn't drown the midges unfortunately...NotReallyABagger12/06/2010
