From Coombe Hill car park, at approx 503330. Followed Polden Way until near summit, then low brambles. | PGCE | 27/05/2021 |
direct form the west, park by Christmas tree sales.looks like paths are open access but woodland is private. after 300m, the nature reserve is reached open access, but beware of nesting birds and visous brambles. | cjo | 22/12/2019 |
From Coombe Hill Car Park. Track initially across a Foot bridge then headed straight for HP. Hard going through wood until came across a track to HP area. Lots of brambles. Easier way back on track. | fosal29 | 06/10/2019 |
Parked to east at forestry entrance. Initially many signs about restricted access into private woods. Flat wooded walk to scrubby top. | Campbell Singer | 31/03/2019 |

Just off the path within bramble, tree stumps and trees. Orange glowing sun visible- days are drawing out. Myriad of paths. | Denise | 26/01/2018 |
From Compton Dundon via Combe Head Lane then up through woodland to join track SW to summit. High point indistinct amongst open pines in extensive understorey of brambles. | RichardM | 26/01/2018 |
Took this hill in as the end point of an 11 mile run from my house in Street. Summit area still covered in vegetation so exact high point hard to distinguish. It was a cold day with a biting east wind and slate grey skies. | isabelle | 12/02/2017 |
From Coombe Hill car park. Newly made track most of the way then off into managed conifer woodland to find the top. Muddy. | jonglew | 20/12/2015 |
Parked in Combe Hill car park, followed track south to bridge over Combe Hollow stream. Instead of following the recently laid track to the west which leads to the edge of the woods, I followed woodland track to near Wickhams cross and then followed track to summit area. HP in amongst trees at end of tractor tracks. Whilst there saw a new looking signpost to car park and which took me out of the woods and back along earlier mentioned track. Much easier than the way i went. | PeterD | 04/12/2015 |
tricky navigation with compass and GPS. No view or cairn - trees. | arranc | 10/01/2014 |
Limited layby parking by Forestry access gate at ST507325. Much of wood is Somerset Wildlife Trust land, but all allows access for walkers along tracks. Easy to get to top (which is flat and boring with no views) using good tracks | Hillsidenick | 23/04/2013 |
With my Dad, Mum and little sister Amelia. It was very muddy and difficult to tell where the highest point was as it was full of brambles. | isabelle summer | 03/03/2013 |
Another foray on to this hill with the family. The high point could be anywhere within about 100 metres of the location on this website, as the terrain is charachterised by thick undergrowth even after Winter. We plodded about a bit. Ascent made from the Coombe Hill car park | isabelle | 03/03/2013 |
Walked along the Polden Way from the car park on the Minor Road. It was very wet. Amelia accompanied me on my shoulders all the way. We cut up through a stand of pines to an area that looked about the highest very difficult to tell though, as the vegetation is thick. | isabelle | 07/07/2012 |
summit undefined in wdld +/- on unmapped E-W tk, popular wdld for walking. follow tk SW then W from road | RHW | 22/09/2002 |
Love the comments about access being allowed if you keep to the tracks. You will keep to the tracks as this is the home of some of the fiercest brambles known.
Venue of my first ever orienteering event - I still bear the scars.

There is a new orienteering map out now and much of it is white, so there has been some big improvements in runnability over the years. | fasgadh | 02/02/1974 |
