With Rob and Dug on our last Sark top before beer and ice-cream. Ground to W side of 1751 windmill seems to be the most natural high ground. GPS gave N49.43.121, W2.36248. | jonglew | 09/07/2017 |
What a lovely island on a sunny day. | Dugswell2 | 09/07/2017 |
Ground at W base of old (1571) windmill seems to be natural HP. With Doug n Jon after Gouliot, visited former Telegraph (used for White's 1810 triangulation but gone by 1856 and now a modern house just SW of cross rds), down to Little Sark for a view of L'Etac de Serk (65m on marine chart) well seen from path SE of Duval, then ice cream and beer in village before 5pm boat back, right amount of time for exploring island plus the two tidals using hired bikes. Moored in same bay- Gosselin, but quite pleasant in northerly winds. Reascend the steep steps to the Pilcher monument with its dire warnings of the dangers of the seas and walk through rural lanes to pass the Moulin again. | Denise | 26/06/2017 |
Sailed from England and moored in Havre Gosselin on W side of Sark. A great sheltered mooring in easterly winds but less so in south westerlies. We were there in south westerlies! The night was comparable to sleeping in a washing machine and the row ashore in the dinghy exhilarating, it was so bad we couldn't face a second night and departed in darkness. Steep ascent path to Pilcher monument which is keen to remind you of the 'dangers of the seas' then tracks to the windmill. While outside the owner appeared and enthusiastically gave us a tour of the old wind mill. N49.43118deg., W002.36244deg. 116m WGS84 | RichardM | 01/07/2015 |
as per Richard's account. Such an unpleasant mooring that I swore I would never return- see 2017 entry! | Denise | 01/07/2015 |

Ferry from Guernsey. Top as RHW. Plenty of tracks. More shops and eateries on Sark than you might have thought. All very pleasant. | destaylor | 26/05/2013 |
Near the windmill at 365' is the highest point. | arranc | 01/05/2008 |
Day visit to Sark. Coastal scenery was the highlight. Mill walked past on return to boat. Lots of noisy tractors meant the ban on cars was counter-productive. I wonder if this has been addressed. | pwheeler | 04/09/1990 |
