From the south from the Grain Store. Frosty. | Play2End | 18/01/2024 |
As others I used the hotel car park after a failed attempt to drive closer from a different direction. Thought previous references to bamboo field a little confusing but there it was opposite the closed entrance to the car park. | Buck | 29/04/2023 |
From hotel over gate and up field boundaries to trig pillar, back via wood and the true summit. | cjo | 06/08/2022 |

Hotel looked busy so used the lay-by on the A425. Three gates, bamboo field, cow field, then through the newly mown nettles to the top. Trig on the way down. Too hot for the cows to bother getting up! | tim747 | 26/07/2021 |
From Staverton in glorious sunshine past the golf club, over the gate, up through the bamboo field, and into the cattle field where every single cow came over to say hello. Scrambled over the fence into the wood, and made the summit. On returning, the cows were still blocking the way so I made my escape via barbed wire and stinging nettles. Far more exciting than a game of golf. | edmundjohnson | 19/09/2020 |

So pleased I did not attempt this one in the dark and pouring rain after Ardbury Hill in December last year.
Parked in Staverton just past Honeysuckle Cottage and walked back to A425. Crossed road over style and head SE across pasture towards farm buildings, though gate continuing SE towards another gate in SE corner.
This is the point I was pleased I did not attempt this last December back over another gate to the left and into field corner where cows had obviously congregated, fortunately the ground was dry.
Follow fence round on other side of gate towards Staverton Clump then followed boundary fence for Staverton Clump north looking for a gate.
Soon found a sturdy concrete post in a corner with metal lugs for fixing fence wire which were handy to use as steps. Up steep earth 10m bank to summit.
Stood on various apparent highest points, photos, log and drop a waypoint before returning to van by same route. | mntainman | 30/07/2020 |

From the lay-by back towards the De Vere hotel, across the road, over a gate, uphill beside the Very Tall Crop, over another gate along the top of a cattle field, over wooden railings at a fence angle, into the wood and so to the summit. | Nick Down1 | 21/07/2019 |

Another walk w/ Pete + joe after Miglia, parked on road side | penbet | 24/03/2019 |
Parked in Staverton. Walked past the golf club. Over gate into field with bamboo crop. Gate at top then over fence into copse. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 11/03/2019 |
From the hotel at dusk. With the trig. | jenx | 03/01/2019 |
Repeat. From parking at the De Vere hotel. From far end of CP and nearest main road a handy gap in the hedge allows access to the road and directly across easy fence to cross into field. From there simple to head up and enter copse on the hill. High point obvious. Picked up the trig too as light faded away into the night, with Jenx and Bryher | nordicstar | 03/01/2019 |

Solo. Parked far end of De Vere car park near metal gate to main road. Short way along towards Daventry hop field gate follow line of bamboo. As field edge alters you’ll see wooden fence over to the right without barbed wire. Head up onto the clump. Lovely mature woodland. 1 of 5 Northants hills today: Badby Down, Arbury Hill, Big Hill Staverton, Newnham Hill and Borough Hill. | Pete West | 16/09/2018 |
7th and final Northants Tump to complete the County, Climbing Badby Down, Golden Hill, Hinton Hill, Blackdown, Sharman's Hill and Arbury Hill. Descent West to intercept track to road then minor lane to Markleys, taking fp heading NE then across lane veering off to walk around new large barn and then into woodland and upto the summit. Very quiet. A nice place to complete Northants county! Continued to Big Hill trig point, appreciating the large boundary trees en-route then a route via Stepnell Spinney to reach track (although wrong side)following this to the footbridge, climbing over fence and up onto and then across to finish at bus stop for next bus to Daventry bus station and then out again to Northampton for the train back to BNS and then Nottingham. NB New Northants of Fox Hill spoils completion! | Dazingdale | 15/09/2018 |
Bagged this on the way home from a few days work in Birmingham. | magirob | 13/09/2018 |

From Big Hill to Big Building with a view of the 750m long Ford Parts Distribution Centre at Daventry which, with a 150,000m2 footprint is bigger than the O2 Dome, Amazon distribution centre in USA, and the Airbus Factory in France. (amazing what lists Wiki has) Its a titch however compared to the world's largest building: New Century Global Centre (a shopping mall) in China at 1.76km2. Big Hill, is a nice little thing punching above its height in choice of name. Went up from the packed hotel/ golf course car park -got a spot next to 'reserved for captain' - a few odd looks - why was I putting on wellies to play golf, and then heading the wrong way? up into summit wood and along to trig. | Chris Pearson | 23/03/2017 |

Approached from North (parked in hotel car park), up between a fence and the highest maize crop I've ever seen, keeping me hidden from a nearby farm and combine harvester. Climbed over fence to east of top and then to wooded summit. My 5th tump of the day just after doing the twin hump Arbury Hill. | pdantic | 01/11/2016 |

From the hotel car park turn left and follow the east side of the hedge to the wood. There is a gate into the wood from this side. Also a straight forward walk from here to the trig point. Worth ascending in early May because of the bluebells. | JohnW | 09/05/2016 |
