Parked at Finsthwaite car park for circuit with Sue of, Summer Sides Wood, Finsthwaite Heights, Rusland Heights and Great Green Hows, returning passing High Dam. Damp start but lovely warm afternoon.Frank01/05/2023
From high dam car park, summer sides wood, finsthwaite heights, Rusland heights, great green howes, Scott Park heightsphilz00807/03/2023
Parked at the lower High Dam car park (£3 all day) at Finsthwaite. Followed much of the Greenwood Trail (often shown by the helpful white topped posts), branching off as necessary to visit Stott Park Heights, Great Green Howes, Rusland Heights, Low Heights (tough to reach), Summer Sides Wood, and AW's Finsthwaite Heights. Then a loop on the east side of Finsthwaite for the Tower on Summer House Knott. The whole figure of eight was 17.5km with 750m ascent, taking me 6 hours. Tougher terrain than its modest elevation would suggest.silveracorn_alan28/10/2022
Used forest tracks to reach the top from Finsthwaite Knott then followed the excellent white topped posts to Low Heightstrimarc205/11/2021
Warning to both my readers ... there is an excellent path, marked by white topped posts, which leaves the footpath running north west from the most western point of High Dam. Take this path, do not attempt to use any of the black dotted routes shown on the map. The direct line following the southern side of the wood after Summer Sides Wood is a true nightmare. Deep bracken, boggy marsh, stiff scrambles and finally. a growing feeling that life is gradually ebbing away. This is from experience.moorsman16/07/2021
Surprised to find path. Mossy outcrop. From Great Green Hows and onto Low heights.Denise 28/12/2019

From Summer Sides Wood.Andrew Pearson15/11/2019
Followed the track round from the High Dam carpark to avoid the long wet bracken which covers much of the hill at this time of year. To reach the highest point a wall had to be crossed but there are some stone steps. Descended due south, managing to pick up a path which eventually led to main track.JohnW04/10/2019
2/4 Great Green Hows from High Dam then on good tractor tracks over to Rusland Heights. Then used orienteering poles to lead us over towards the reservoir below Low Heights. Keep slightly south of the summit of Low Heights to avoid most of the Juniper - at one point we had to retreat and try again but found way up in the end, then head North East on various paths back to get Summer Sides Wood and down to Finsthwaite. Small hills, but tough underfoot this took us 4 hours!nickywood107/09/2019
On circular walk from Stott Park via Finsthwaite and Rusland valley. Returned via High Dam. With David. Route was infested with 'Man vs The Lakes' competitors!citygent20/07/2019

Roadside parking at SD 36948 88169. With Rick Nordicstar on pleasant round of 6 hills as per ronaldo333 but with the Wainwright outlier Finsthwaite Heights tacked on the end. 9.5km over a mix of rough, wet ground and easy paths.jonglew09/01/2018

From Newby Bridge and though Finsthwaite villagebardolph02/12/2016
Followed my nose from Finsthwaite Heights. Possibly the best panorama of the Lakes I've seen - the whole sweep from Black Coombe to the Shap Fells and all dappled in sunlight and shadow. Extremely scenic tarns - the hand of man actually can improve the scenery. Came across an immaculately dressed Indian family in the woods with a luxurious looking picnic setup, taking afternoon tea.Wycombe Wanderer04/09/2016
Straightforward paths through complex terrain from the bracken hell of Low Heights. Had to scale one wall to high point, opted to stick to way marked signed path to Great Green Heights.6 of 8 tumps walk whilst elsewhere, on slightly smoother grass, Murray won Wimbledon again.Chris Pearson10/07/2016
From High Dam on tracks (some very muddy) to HP. My last sHu in England.arranc31/03/2016
4th of a five tump circuit. Path from Summer Sides v contorted but glad of it in bracken season. Three summit candidates close together, visited the two lower ones too. Nice old stile gives access over wall; sadly wired up... Met another walker near summit (to our mutual surprise, although she showed no interest in this summit). Back via Low HeightsRHW06/09/2015
Third of four hills on circuit from the Bobbin Mill; passed a rather odd metal birders' hide or firewatch station on the way. Continued to Low Heights.Aye Jimmy27/03/2015
