An engrossing drive, very narrow N of Melvaig with 2.2m width restrictions and little prospect of turning 180 degrees. Parking at comms masts NG756899. Yes it is a walk across the moor but there is an intial labyrinth of hags and man eating bogs to negotiate before one is afforded the luxury of a forming FP which keeps a handful of metres to the W of the highest groundIsbjorn20/10/2023
Parked at the masts then easy walking over the moorland to the trig.Dugswell208/09/2023
Drove up to masts, tarmac track. Set off ESE across peat hags to low ridge which leads SSE to summit. Faint path on ridge. Visited all summit contenders.CJM06/09/2023
Escaped Torridon rain for blue skies on this one. Must be one of the best panoramas in the highlands.garbo110319/08/2023
Room for 2 cars opposite start of track to microwave relay station. Up track, across peat hags to summit, good views. While negotiating hags promise yourself a nice walk along cliffs 2 km north at Rubha Reidh.rogreeves05/07/2023
Walked road from Melvaig, up tracks to masts and across to top. Back down through peat hags.colazione23/06/2023
Work vehicles at bottom of mast track so parked at 74163/89478 at old quarry entrance. More or less direct from there. Peat hags further up but were ok as has been so dry recently.duchally07/06/2023
From masts, across moor and peat bogs. Stayed more easterly on a faint path, on return to avoid much of the bogs.willyross30/03/2023
From Midtown by historic path, through interesting woods to Ivor’s. Looked down on beach, then walked back S up to summit via telecoms masts. Horrific peat hags. Continued S from summit through more awful hags and cut down SE back to path near start. Sunny, breezy, warm, cloud on high hills further inland. Back to van to learn queen had died. e-bike from Melvaig to masts then yomp across the moorlangskill28/08/2022

Drove up to the mast, then a few hundred metres of peat hags before picking up trod to the summit.nicolajane14/05/2022
Might not get much of a welcome parking at road end. Felt a bit awkward. From there on same route as everyone else.VerySlowPlodder05/10/2020
Just a quick bog trot from the mast track. Excellent views to Assynt and the islands.Peterb16/09/2020
Walked from Melvaig along lighthouse road, up road to masts, and SSE over peat hags (some intermittent tracks) to summit, returning same waykdbennett25/08/2020
Parked on road at mast track entrance (15:05). Walked to masts and then across boggy ground to ridge line and thence to summit. Good day, fantastic viewpoint, almost equidistant from Applecross, Torridons, Letterewe, Coigach... On return followed faint track W of ridge. Finished 16:25.dbb24/08/2020
Drove up to the mast as the gate was not locked. Underfoot was reasonable but probably hard going in very wet conditions. Under 40 minutes return. Solo.bolton01/08/2020
Parked at Melvaig to make a walk of it. Weather windy and hailed on way across moor to trig. Lost camera on way up track to aerials but found it on way back down. Storms in the Minch spectacular.mindlessflogger12/01/2020

Parked at the bottom of the mast road and walked up to the masts and then across to the TP. Returned the same way. 75 mins. Forecast was 99% rain. Actually dry with a view of Harris. Back at Sands campsite Karen said it had rained non stop.ChrisR27/07/2019
Parked in small car park 500m before lighthouse...the parking dispute with the lighthouse seems to have been resolved....there's now a sign at Melvaig indicating that the public can use the road and park in designated parking spaces, and inviting any problems with access to be reported to the council. Up the mast access track, then across the bogs to the trig point, keeping to the watershed to avoid most of the groughs. Then down NE to Loch an Draing and NE again on the track to the coast. Back on sheep tracks along the coast, including passing the wonderful Camus Mor. 10 miles, and a much better walk than just an iut and back.Clive G08/05/2019
Drove to masts, easy stroll on another warm sunny dayIWC27/05/2018
First new Marilyn of the year. Amazing wide angled views- Sutherland, Fisherfield, Torridons, Skye, Hebrides. Keep for a good day. With Ben.hillsman17/05/2018
1st of 4 Marilyns in day car bagging with Jon Glew. 11km walk planned from end of B8021 in Melvaig, but tarmac (public adopted?) to outdoor centre open and even better - right to radio mast also open. Parked near radio mast in site of trig walking in arc to the left avoiding most of the boggy minor hags and groughs. 1.61 miles walked with only 35m of ascent.mntainman06/02/2018
Drove to the masts. Easy 1km across the peat hags in clear weather; a bit damp under foot but ok. With Steve Smith.jonglew06/02/2018
Snowy ascent from parking at Melgave. Road too icy to go much further. Walk along road and up to masts, then across snowy moorland to trig. Stunning views.N.Morters30/12/2017
The road is now open all the way to the lighthouse, all bridges repaired nicely. We drove to the mast, good parking, tarmac all the way, then did navigation practice in thick mist across the peat hags, emerging from the mire onto a nice easy ridge with a vague path all the way to the trig. Somewhat windy, and, on the return, the masts were concealed in mist until about 100 yards away.Gill22/12/2017
Added to a long circular coastal walk from Naast to the end of the peninsula and back via Cove. Not a cloud in the sky. Stunning views of the coast and mountains from beyond Quinag to the Applecross peninsula, most of Skye, Harris and Lewis. Loads of peat hags, mostly fairly firm after a good dry spell.Owen B14/02/2017
Hoping to drive up to masts but road closed at Melvaig due to bridge getting repaired therefore had to slog up to trig pt from road across numerous old peat-cut ridges and saturated ground. Best to combine this one with a stay at the wonderful bothy above Camas Mor.AndrewFinnimore20/01/2017
Drove to the bottom of the transmitter road, there are signs up that you can park there... Thought this meant the road was now public, but it seems the landowner isnt very happy about this... It was pouring with rain so mo-one was about anyway.hils15/10/2016

Drove up to the aerial. Wind horrendous - driving rain showers. Full waterproofs and a yomp across the peathags to the trig point. Kept to the higher ground and rewarded by cloudy views of both lochs in between squalls. With John and Niall P.kenmorti25/10/2015
From masts in sunset twilight. The best line is the straightest; due east of the masts is an impassable swamp. A bit haggy at first but it gets better. Superb sunset views of Skye and Harris.Topographer5715/10/2014
With: hb sb ab; Parked in carpark and followed road to just after Allt a'Bhutha across moor to summit. Returned by aerials and visit to lighthouse at Rubha Reidh.Ian Baines08/07/2014

With Mora, easy top via road to mastBLACKHILL06/05/2013
During a week at Badachro. Windy & clag over the higher summits so parked at Melvaig with Martin66, JC, J, Harts & Otis & then a wander along the track to the transmitter access. Up this & then on to the summit. Returned to the masts & then headed down to the outdoor centre before returning to Melvaig. A good short outing. (Again on 23/5/19 with J, Shaky & Smithy on a wet day. Can now drive to lighthouse, so watched seals playing just off the point.)NotReallyABagger06/05/2013
W Jenx. Claggy day in Torridon so headed for coast. Coffee in Gairloch and out to Melvaig. Drove easily to antenna and walked out in mist over sub tops to trig. Mist cleared on way back with views to Skye and Hebrides.nordicstar08/12/2012
Parked at bottom of road to aerials (room to park two cars without causing obstruction). Took road to aerials, then through peat hags to gain a faint path south along 'ridge' to trig point. HP possibly on a peat hag 20m south of trig. Returned by outward route.Man of Kernow129/10/2012
Started from car park at Melvaig, up road & track to masts then moorland trog back. Excellent visibility seawards while poor inland.Smudge10/05/2011
Parked at the bottom of the mast track, although it is possible to drive to the masts. The crossing to the trig from the masts was easy, even my 4 year old made it.garyhoney07/06/2010

Made hard work of this by parking at bridge to WSW. Followed burn then rough grassy slopes, eventually to trig. Suspect much easier via the comms mast road.Aye Jimmy25/10/2007
