Glen Banchor via Allt Fionndrigh to footbridge & col then North ridge to Creag Liath returning southwards to glen between red deer herds & stags in noisy rut. A fine & dry but overcast day with fine views. Strong east winds.Vin18/10/2023
Parked at Glen Balloch cp, R along track, later indistinct deer path where track goes R uphill, to foot bridge. Up on boggy ATV track to bealach and then SE to summit. Ferocious wind and squally showers so scuttled back to calm of the glen!MichaelF12/10/2023
On the way back from Carn Dearg, up and over from the NW then descended to the track through the woods and joined the Carn Dearg route at Glenballach.garyhoney21/08/2023

Parked at the end of the Glen Road. Track to Glenballoch then up north side of Allt Fionndrigh. Over footbridge then up north ridge to the summit. Descended SE then followed good track through the conifer woods back to Glenballoch ruin. Solo.Dangerous Dave10/11/2022
After Carn Dearg, w Malky. Overcast but didn’t rain. From CD, dropped into Glen Balloch and obvious route, out by track by Allt Fionndrigh. Rounsfell23/07/2022
Dry, overcast, mild, mostly light winds, this is a good viewpoint - best of the day!NorfolkPT2116/07/2022
Direct route, starting from car park at end of public road in Glen Banchor. Bright morning, excellent views.RobertP09/11/2021
Parked at end of Glen Road from Newtonmore, cycled to Glenballoch, walked along track on E side of Allt Fionndrigh to the footbridge at NH659019, crossed, continued up tracks, following more or less directly up N ridge to Creag Liath summit, continuing over 732m S top, towards 642m point, but headed SE before reaching that, down slopes to SW corner of large plantation, and an ATV track that leads back to W side of river and back to Glenballochkdbennett11/07/2021
Super hill. Great views all around and we had good weather. Close view of a Golden Eagle overhead. And it came back again before soaring high and heading West. Lots of stags roaring too.GWR Chris11/10/2020
From Glen Banchor road end. From Glenballoch farm the hill looked quite challenging with a lot of snow. Aimed for the south corner of the plantation, then to the right of Creagan na h-Eighich, then trying to follow the best line though the more heathery sections to avoid the worst of the snow. Rather more scoured above 550m. Lovely atmospheric stroll between the tops with good views. Returned by same route. With TH.Owen B19/02/2020
Creag Liath from Glenballoch, initially following a reasonable path alongside the plantation to the SE, then heather and snow. Continued northwardsish along ridge then down to a bridge across the Allt Fionndrigh and back along the parallel track. As there was still time in the day and the sun was out we followed a muddy ATV track up to nearly the top of Creag nan Abhag, then doubled back to Clac a' Chaise. Decided to head eastwards from here, which was fine until we had to cross an in-spate Allt a' Chaorainn. We wandered up and down to find a crossing point, eventually taking our chances across some reasonably lined rocks, finding relieve on the east bank and the track back to the Glen Road car park.summitter18/01/2020
From Glenballoch. Overcast, dryish, cold wind on top.iangalbraith05/11/2019
Absolute first rate hill. Wonderful lofty summit area and I even got a rainbow coming right down into the Glen.Alex C03/11/2019
A lollipop of a route from the road end above Newtonmore, not quite fitting the outing into the short gap in a long period of rain. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.com/2019/10/creag-liath-nh663007-743m.htmlGayle08/10/2019

During a GHC weekend. Wild weather, just about managed the top with out been blown off.Play2End23/03/2018
Parked at the end of the public road at 692997. From the west end of Glenballoch after the deer fence we headed directly NW to the ridge at 662001. An easy walk to the summit in deepening snow with CM. The descent was similar but we followed the bottom end of the conifer plantation north of the farm and then crossed the river easily which was quite low. Under 5 hours in difficult conditions.bolton12/02/2018
From P N of Newtonmore. Up between the 2 plantations. Heavy going through snow on ground. With PM, soon to be SN2!CJM12/02/2018
Nice hill, easy walk up track, a bit muddy around the bridge and up to the hill but easy once on the ridge. Good views.nicolajane04/12/2017

A lovely walk up Glen Banchor, then straight up the hill to the left of the plantation on good deer tracks, and surprisingly dry and easy going. Such a nice walk that I went down the other side too, to max out on the views.Gill27/10/2017
started at the main car park and followed the river up to glenbanchor .took the main path all the way up to grid NH 659/019 from here the main path stops and and its on to a boggy arv track which soon fades away to a straggly deer path if your lucky to find it ..just after the grouse butts marked on the 1/25k map (nh657/008) you start to climb not to steep and over dwarf heather pleasant enough going up to a small cairn on the hill top ..very windy gusty day but that just adds to the fun of the day ..coming down i headed for marked 642 on the map then heather hopped all the way down to the fence where i found a path to take me to the corner of the wood creagan na h-eighich where i joined the main track back to the car all in 4hrs with 20min spent hidden behind a boulder on the top for lunch :)mikebeattie03/10/2017
Creag Laith (NH 663007} S/F NN 692996. Cold fresh day, light winds and good visibility. Decided to take short cut on descent, no problems crossing riverJohn Young01/10/2017

Really nice walk from car pk at end of Glen Banchor road. A direct approach from Glenballoch house to just above pt. 642m. was just fine, and quite easy underfoot (well deer-nibbled). The traverse of the mountain's S and NW ridges on wind clipped heath was very pleasant and we could appreciate the rather flowery comments- in a SMC guide!- likening the summit to a emperor's seat as the Monadh Liath appears as an impressive amphitheatre of mountains from here. Straightfoward descent using paths via Gleann Fiannrigh. With Pete, in fine weather. Less snow than you'd expect on 30 May.pwheeler30/03/2017
