Parked at Barber Booth - still spaces at 9.30! Up PW to Kinder Low trig, then across to Kinder Scout, which was surprisingly dry underfoot. Then down to Noe Stool and the stone path to Brown Knoll, Rushup Edge, Mam Tor, Barker Bank and Lose Hill and back via Hollins Cross. Lovely day and weather. Solo. Good to see the large number of kids out on DofE expeditions - prime time, prime location, post exams.richard6913/07/2023

Onwards to the col above Jacob's Ladder. Stone path all the way to the Brown Knoll trig. Then pathless and steeply north east to join the Pennine Way between Jacob's Ladder and Lee House. Pennine Way back to Edale. Lovely day out on a fairly cold, calm, dry, bright day.Owen B15/01/2022

A very easy walk on the slabbed path from South Head, on a walk from Hayfield to Castleton. A bit of a disappointing top after the first two (Mount Famine/South Head), but onwards to better things (Lord's Seat).thesweetcheat08/09/2021

Joined the Pennine Way at Upper Booth and passed several hundred Duke of Edinburgh Award kids struggling up Jacob's Ladder under heavy packs and a strong sun. We bagged Kinder Scout, the Sandy Hays trig and Mill Hill before heading down to Hayfield for a well earned pint at the Sportsman. The way back involved crossing the River Kinder just opposite the pub and getting onto the Pennine Bridleway up to Mount Famine and South Head before heading NE to Brown Knoll. A fine pavement next took us down Golborne and across the Chapel Gate ROW back to the car park between Barber Booth and Upper Booth. Great walk ... 7.5 hrs including a 45 minute pub stop.summitter01/07/2021

A fine high level traverse around Edale. Starting from the free parking at SK 108 847 . Up Crowden Clough to Kinder Scout, across the plateau (variable snow cover) to Kinder Low. Then along the ridge on the south side of Edale to bag the 3 Deweys of Brown Knoll, Lord’s Seat and the very busy Mam Tor. Then along the ridge over Barker Bank, Black Tor to the viewpoint indicator at Lose Hill. A total of 23km with 820m ascent in 6h 50m. (S)silveracorn_alan13/04/2021
13 mile walk from lay-by on road east of Slackhall. Along easy Pennine Bridleway up to South Head, re-bagging South Head and Mount Famine then descending to River Sett, then along footpaths towards Oaken Clough. Then we followed a surprisingly good trail along edge of Kinder to Red Brook. Along to Kinder Downfall which was blowing upwards, then along Pennine Way to Kinder Low trig and excellent flagstone trail across Brown Knoll, back down to the lay-by. 805m of ascent. A few people about on this sunny/windy day. Good views across to Wales. Earlier that day bagged Eccles Pike.DanTrig29/03/2021

Had a spare day so decided to drive up to Edale to walk around some of the lesser peaks. Which almost seems unfair as starting with Brown Knoll they're just as good as their more famous cousins. K From Edale via Mam Nick; Rushup Edge and then the relatively new slabbed path across what is currently an extremely soggy Brown Knoll to the trig. Without the slabs this would have probably have been a flounder through peat. Return to Edale via Jacobs Ladder and the Pennine Way. Edale Country Day and Fell Race today so place was bustling.crazy11/06/2017
Climbed with theDev as the third of three summits which included South Head and Mount Famine on a ten mile round out of Sparrowpit. Ledge at the base of the trig point made for an excellent seat. Climbed with my friend Carol and her dog Terrier, 'Banks'. I must say i felt pretty sorry for Banks as he was getting pretty bedraggled on this stretch. We had already climbed Mam tor, Barker Bank, Lose hill, backtracked at Back tor to Edale, climbed the NAB and followed the edge around to Grindslow knoll and then onto the edge past Noe stool onto the Pennine way and took the footpath heading north. We followed the fence-line until the track that leads directly to Brown knoll and had no problems in locating the Trig point. A great place for sunsets! After a slog past here we continued on the track that leads to Chapel gate and then veered off to access the Great ridge and Lords seat to end up at the start, the National trust car park at Mam nick!. Took me some time to find this one. visibility was poor and once you do get to the top the mud is really bad to get to the trig. Ground to the south looks higher. The Team11/04/2009

Did this at night with a couple of mates. Thick clag on top and could'nt see more than a few metres. This coupled with the mud made it quite a miserable walk.Flipperfeet04/11/2008
Trig point was surrounded by boot-sucking mud amking it inaccessible. However, land immediately south of it seems to be slightly higher so all is OK.clivevilla14/09/2008

As a kid this hill was my nemesis due to the incredible wetness and the foul weather we always seemed to encounter upon it. Even looking down on it from the Woolpacks I think there' a certain menace about it.Jake99425/05/2003

Leeds University Outdoor Activities Course party. Walked from Castleton Y. H. via Winyards to Mam Tor. Then via Rushup Edge, Brown Knoll to Kinder Low (2077 feet). Then walked along edge of plateau to Kinder Downfall. The wind was so strong that it blew the water of the waterfall up into the air. Walked across the plateau to Edale. Very powerful wind, mist and hail. Descended by Crowden Beck to Upper Booth and along the road to Edale Y. H.pwbellarby11/02/1961
