With JW. From West end of Loch Glascarnoch, up Abhainn an Torrain Duibh to Creag Dhubh Fannaich, Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich, Sgurr Mor, Meall Gorm, An Coileachan. Long descent with painful knee but good views!robertgn08/01/2019
Climbed solo from A835 west of Loch Glascarnoch. Followed path on the West Bank of the Abhainn an Torrain Duibh (not marked on map). Ignore the track through the forest. Continue alongside Abhainn a Ghiuthais Li as far as the footbridge (also unmarked) at 252712. Ascended Meallan Buidhe (skirted summit), An Coileachan, Meall Gorm SE top and main top, Meall nam Peithirean, Sgurr Mor, Beinn Liath Mhor Fannaich. Return via Craig Dhubh Fannaich (summit skirted) and back alongside outward route. Excellent conditions. Fine walk but long and rough walk in/out. Luckily very dry conditions - bogs would hinder progress.jamessteel10024/07/2018

With a friend. A long day in the Fannaichs. We left at 07:15 and walked up the west side of Abhainn an Torrain Diubh (small path), and then north side of Allt an Loch Sgeirich. Burns full so a little difficulty in crossing this burn, then to Creag Dhubh Fannaich (757m). We continued to Beinn Liath Mhòr Fannaich. It was now very misty and it drizzled. With two friends. We left Lochdrum and went along track to Allt a Mhadaidh, then up the hillside to Beinn Liath Mhór Fannaich. We were now in thick mist. It was very cold. We reached Sgurr Mór; the mist lifted just before we reached the summit. My friends went on to Meall nam Peithirean. I went on to Carn na Criche. I found a path (not shown on map); it starts by a cairn on the col between Carn na Criche and Meall a Chrasgaidh. It proceeds a few degrees E of N, above cliffs and hence to Creag Raineach Mór. High up it crossed steep snow and ice fields needing ~100 steps cut (I had no crampons with me). Eventually I joined the path by Allt a Mhadaidh.pwbellarby08/12/1985
