After Cruach Lagalochan. From road north-east of Bealach Salach nan Airm about 8900 1212 southwards on forestry track as far as about 8930 1178, then rightwards up rough grass with some faint paths to reach summit ridge. Turned right heading south-westwards in hope of reaching actual top, but tree cover very difficult to penetrate or keep a constant bearing. Eventually so confused that aborted summit attempt so as to be sure of reaching Kilmelford in time for last bus home. Found and descended firebreak north-east of route of ascent, regaining forestry track about 8963 1211. Felt as if impossibility predicted by Minto had been fulfilled! | mainnirnamfiadh | 23/04/2021 |
15th top of 16 on a 24km traverse from Ford to the Glenmore Country Hotel in Kilmelford, climbing Dun Dubh, Cnoc Torran, Sron na Saobhaidhe, Cruach nan Dearc, Cnoc Sgliatach, Cnoc na Moine, Creag Luaragain Bheag South top, Cruach an Eachlaich, Creag Luaragain Bheag, Creag Luaragain Mhor West top, Creag Luaragain Mhor, Cnoc Lochan Mhic Chuaraig, Carn Duchara and Creag nan Cuilean continuing West then NW through new plantation to ascend through tight trees with tree stumps to negotiate. I found trees were slightly less dense nearer the crags to eventually break through to the broad logging track, recording 274m just west of the logging track but area is fairly flat. Grid ref at the summit is NM 89251 1152 but I recorded several points across the summit area before descending to the track and following this all the way out to the waterfall NE of Barr Beithe... | Dazingdale | 10/05/2019 |
Managed to just get through trees on descent from Duchara, as Minto | nordicstar | 12/04/2016 |
After Carn Duchara. From the stream bend / forest fence to the SE. Straight up pushing way through a few replanted trees over brashings. Will be impossible in a few years. Summit is clear, with forest logging machine track across it. Descent SW to forest fence and outward route.Again will be impossible in a few years time. | Minto | 07/06/2015 |
