Round trip from the parking area just off the A838 to the north of Achfary. Track past Lone and followed up towards the Bealach Horn, before striking off around 400m across peat hags to gain the ridge between Meall Horn and Creagan Meall Horn. Great views from Creagan Meall Horn by wind had picked up a lot and clouds came down on Meall Horn, followed by sideways rain. Sabhal Mor, descent to bealach then Sabhal Beag, where rain finally relented. Steep but straightforward descent to Bealach na Feithe (aim SE to avoid outcropping crags), then track all the way back to Lone and beyond. Turned ankle did not help, but good track along the Abhain an Loinne did. 25km, 6h10Rockdoctor22/05/2023
Meall Horn and a traverse of Foinaven from just north of Achfary with John & Jon. Took the track and path from the car, to around 400m up then struck NE up to the Meall Horn summit area. Descended back down to below the crags above the track and countoured around to rejoin the track. Left the track at around 500m and then cross the wet moor and up the rocky terrain to An t-Sail Mhor. From there followed the ridge over to Ganu Mor and had lunch. Followed the ridge around to Ceann Garbh and then descended NW into the wetlands and back across to the A838 where a second car was parked. Amazing day under blue skies and a cool breeze - total time 8h 11minmproudfoot08/04/2023
From Achfary CP. Good track in, perhaps best to go just beyond 400m contour, there's a faint atv track picks it's way between the peat hags. Direct line hideous.iangalbraith07/04/2023

Intermittent clearing and clashing. Occasional rain shower, but largely dry. Very slow slog over the boulder slow NE of Arkle to get to col for Meall Horn. Knew its run out of daylight. Long 12 hour day over three Marilyns and two hour 6km walk out in the dark.vegibagger23/09/2022
With J during a week in Sutherland. Very windy day with brief blustery showers put us off Arkle, so we set off for Meall Horn from the usual point, passing Lone & continuing up the track. Went further than the SMC guidebook suggests avoiding the boggy stuff & then traversed SE underneath Creagan Meall Horn before slanting up to the summit of Meall Horn. Sheltered from wind on N side of cairn for half an hour then emerged to find the wind moderating rapidly. Returned by the same route, a now very pleasant late afternoon wander in the sunshine.NotReallyABagger18/05/2022
