From east near walled enclosure. Up to wind farm used a little of tracks before along broad ridge. Cloudy morning summit clear. Onto An Socach to complete section 15. | N.Morters | 04/05/2023 |
Turned back by the decidedly unhelpful man at site gatehouse portacabin who recommended the hill (Ben Klibreck) opposite. He told us the winddfarm was a construction site and if we entered the site we would be ejected. He said he could not show us the extent of the windfarm on the map. We drove NE further along the road and found a good area to park on the right and followed the edge of the plantation then a stream, skirting round the Northern edge of the windfarm on a generally NE bearing and passing over the col between the 421 top and Creag Riabhach before contouring towards Meall an Fhuarain. Avoids any issues. | tallscottishguy | 14/10/2022 |
Up from road to the east into the still under construction Creag Riabhach wind farm strong-ish squally NW wind and intermittent sunshine and short showers zapping cold light rain into my face. Counted 13 windmills or shafts under construction but noticed 022 plaque on one of the biggest ones, so implies there are more to be built. Marilyn number 996 | vegibagger | 26/09/2022 |
Tried to avoid windfarm construction traffic by starting at gate 545305. Not recommended. Returned by usual route using new road for couple of hundred yards before joining burn beside fence. The hotest day yet. | lordtonult | 18/07/2022 |
Parking burn/bridge. Straight up NW, intersected 3 windfarm roads before the 418 point. Wlii be a good bike route in years to come, but yet another badly desecrated series of hills. | iangalbraith | 17/05/2022 |
Lunch at the summit. Great views. | Tisteln | 28/10/2021 |
Parking layby west side road NC 5369 2882 - by spot height 182 to SE.Deer trod up between stream and fence at NC 53850 29308. Did not find atv and mast (Coinneach), poor visibility in clag | carole engel | 10/09/2021 |
From the stream at 538292. No problems. | NormanW | 02/05/2021 |
v limited parking near Vagastie- the popular place to walk up B klibreck. This may even be more limited now- as there is major construction - run of the water scheme? Anyway- if you have wellies with a good tread- wear them, Bog bog bog- and if you have grass crampons- wear them too . 6. 5 mile. 2 hour 58 | VerySlowPlodder | 05/08/2020 |
Route as per Coinneach. Fairly dry underfoot. | willyross | 01/08/2020 |
Parked on roadside beside stream NE of point 182.Up between stream and fence and straight to mast near point 418 on wet but easy ground. Just before mast picked up a ATV track which took me nearly to the summit. Glorious weather and super 360 views for my 900th Marilyn | Coinneach | 13/10/2019 |
The usual route up the stream adjacent to the plantation. Easy on deer tracks, then a tedious trudge across easier angled bogs, thankfully dry. Contoured round the mast bump, then found an ancient stalkers path across the bogs at the bealach and leading to the bogs below the summit plateau. The plateau goes on a bit but reveals fine views of all my favourite mountains. | Gill | 20/04/2019 |

1 of 3: from A836 at 541295 | ChrisR | 16/04/2018 |
Very easy up from the road via stream adjacent to south edge of woodland. Then across the moor. A nice viewpoint for the northern hills. | jenx | 21/06/2016 |
Up from the A road to East. Parked at edge of final plantation to Sth on Lairg road. Easy going up deer tracks by stream. Over masted hill then easily to main summit. Excellent views to North of Hope, Loyal and Klibreck plus multiple Marilyn tops. | nordicstar | 21/06/2016 |
From the Klibreck footbridge in six inches to a foot of fresh snow, breaking trail all the way. | Chris Peart | 12/12/2015 |
From A road to the E. Through plantations and over to summit. Mostly easy ground and fair number of animal tracks. | AndrewFinnimore | 14/09/2014 |
From A836 followed the humming from the mast initially and then traversed pathlessly. Drainage ditches not adequate for the job. | Martin R | 22/05/2014 |
Parked on verge on A 838. New Brasher boots. Last 2006 pair hadn't lasted long. Up over dryish moor, long deer grass, damp patches. Vagastie in view. Steadily up to visible horizon to a shoulder. Downhill over s swampy area and up to prow of hill. A further drop down to S of a small lochan and up to a grass covered flat area to find a 6 stone small cairn amidst a sea of grass. 15.05. Loyal, Cuilean, Griam Beg and Mor, Klibreck north to south, Ben More, Leoid, Hee, Foinaven and Hope. | arranc | 21/07/2008 |
WIth Assynt Bob on a round of Creag Dhubh Mhor, Creag Dhubh Bheag and Meall an Fhuarain from Mudale. | Eddie | 28/01/2006 |
