| A perfect autumnal late Friday afternoon after school. Warm - soon sweating. Pure blue sky. Crystal clear light with lengthening shadows with a dazzling sinking sun to the west. Absolute stillness. Surrounded by vivid green rolling hills and peace. Magical. Created a 5 tump run circuit to make a journey of the outing. 2hrs 15 mins for about 12 k finishing at 7.15pm. Home only 16 miles away by 8pm. Parked at lovely wooded Leochel-Cushnie by church and WW1 memorial -30 men lost from the two combined parishes. Easy track up then a dreadful 1km off-piste route choice down NE through the lumpy, tangled forest to Cushnie bridge - to short cut the longer 2 km path and road route. Bad gamble this time.
