From Creag Scalabsdale. Descended due east, steeply down to the headwaters of Craggan Burn. Numerous short jumps across the various rills in spate but no real difficulty. Over the SE top, then east to the top of the next stream, then SE to the top of Allt na Maoile, then easily south to the summit. Weather improving, good view back to Morven and the nearby Marilyns, lovely early evening light over the glen west. Descended initially SW, picking up a good ATV track heading south at the head of Clais an Ruigh Mhoir, which then drops SW to Kilphedir.Owen B18/09/2023
From Kilphedir - track almost to summit - found two stone cairn and added four to it.Chris Peart26/04/2023
With Yeltzbagger. Parked at Kilphedir, ignored the offputting stalking notice (which suggests there is shooting 8 months of the year) and followed the track almost to the top. No cairn, but no rocks to make one. Another great day with fantastic views.Stevie n Tay02/12/2022
An anti-clockwise round of three Marilyns and four Tumps from Kilphedir.Minto28/07/2022
Parked at Kilphedir. Along good track at first then across moorland to the summit. With Minto.Dangerous Dave28/07/2022
From Kiphedir, long circuit, easy going track to start, then grassy moorland to top. Onto Creag ScalabsdaleN.Morters26/06/2021

A circuit from good parking at Kilphedir. Up the track to the end just S of Cnoc na Moile, absolutely easy in dry weather, then to the top. Superb views all round. N along the ridge, rough descent, then deer tracks easily over Blar a'G.D. Bogs nowhere near as bad as Galloway! Big Garvery Burn gives easy going NW (deer tracks) to the ridge leading to Creag Scalabsdale. Easy going up and along the ridge to the summit, fine views. Down SSW ridge, cut SE on steep dry ground, then flat, to gain a feeder for the Craggan Burn. The descent is sh1te. Boggy deer tracks, up and down a lot, only very small, intermittent patches of short grass. When the banks close in and steepen, it's a relief to head up and across easy dry heather to the outward track. I suspect that a better descent would be down the ATV track visible from the hill, which appears to head down above the Torrish Burn.Gill07/02/2020
Despite weather reports, clear to north and east, sunny, very boggy, including the track.iangalbraith24/01/2020
From Kilphadir, with Ellie dog.BLACKHILL19/06/2019
From Kilphedir. ATV track most of way. Then onto Scalabsdale.trimarc223/05/2019
From Kilphedir. Probably the faint track goes 70% of the way to the top. Flat top, no obvious cairn seen.willyross31/10/2018
From Kilphedir, rough track is OK until it reaches the long south ridge, then it becomes a swamp. Splendid view of Morven and Scaraben from summit. Descended to 200m by a route slightly further west.Topographer5729/09/2017
4 of 6: From Mid Hill.ChrisR02/08/2017
Lovely hill from Kilpedir. Probably the faint track goes all the way to the top though it is boggy. I just went up on to the ridge. Grand isolation.Thearlaichdubh24/05/2017
From Kilphedir. Grassy quad tracks to 260m then easy to summit.NormanW21/05/2017
With Scalabsdale, clockwise from bridge over Torrish Burn.Very boggy between the 2 Marilyns. Great track back to Kilphedir from below summit not marked on OS map.AndrewFinnimore08/04/2017

Good parking either side of bridge at Kilphedir. Track to the right of burn not on 1:50k map takes you quickly up and along to hill to 180m. Then turns up the ridge and turns to lead the walker easily to the upper slopes of Cnoc na Maoile in 40 mins. Onwards from here to Creag Scalabsdale. Going underfoot ok after a dry spell. Could be soggy when wet.nordicstar14/06/2016
A good walk round from Kelphedir. Useful tracks and animal tracks made the going mostly easy, though the crossing between the two Marilyns was a long distance of quite rough and wet ground. Lovely easy though long walk back followong the stream line.jenx14/06/2016
Parked by the bridge at Kilphedir. Straightforward walk, though ground rough in places - done in bright sunshine, a little chilly on top.martin_hall13/03/2015
Dry as a bone from near Caen, then set off for Creag Scalabsdale.Martin R28/05/2012
Very boggy round from near Caen.fasgadh19/07/2010
Parked on Kinbrace road at a cattle grid. Up the hillside over steep 15 inch heather covered slopes. Followed old fence posts without wire. Lovely pink rock crags to the right. Very long trudge making for hill about 2 miles away. GPS to check progress. A final 500' assault on the top 14.00. Small Mount, Morven, Smean, Pap, Scaraben, Thoraidh, Dhorain and Scalabsdale.arranc21/06/2008
Round of Beinn Dubhain, Creag Scalabsdale and Cnoc na Maoile from W of Torrish on a hot day.Eddie07/07/2006
