5 tumps from the layby 1 of 5 | robertphillips | 27/09/2022 |
HBbHB. Had to park in the further away layby on the A93 rather than tat the closer nice picnic site. Walked E along Deeside way until opposite the track heading NW. Sign on floor by gate advised that a bull was in the field, and to keep the gate shut. Followed track to fence corner, then up the edge of the fence. Bracken could be a problem in season. | Minto | 08/02/2022 |

Lunchbreak ascent whilst working at Aboyne. Outwitted the bracken by staying inside the golden woods until high up, then a deer track through the bracken to go up rocky slabs, and to weave around / through broom and gorse to summit trig. Behind my shoulder was the labouring throb of the tug plane pulling gliders into the clam leaden grey sky form Deeside Gliding Club. My pleasing satisfaction of reaching 840 feet on this summit is overshadowed by the gliders here which frequently reach 10,000 feet and even 20,000 feet. In fact the UK record of 38,000ft was achieved here - (the world record is a stratosphere edge 76,000ft using rising waves of air over the Andes). | Chris Pearson | 31/10/2019 |
Basically the jackrustles is correct except its not that bad currently - ferns will be hell in high summer. There is a band of juniper to cross too! Near the summit and the trig, there is mainly broom with the odd gorse bush - not that difficult to negotiate. There is a path thru' the worst of it at NO 49345 99180 but will be impossible to see once the bracken is fully grown | carole engel | 24/06/2019 |
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log:

The 7 is for the view! -7 for the terrain! Parked at NO 49624 98925, over gate and along track, then up the hill through the head high ferns, which covered rocks and holes until you reach the heather/thorns/broom/gorse. Met a stag at the trigpoint and watched some more gliders before heading off down to battle the hillside on my return. Managed to follow the fenceline most of the way, easier than being in the middle of the ferns. | thejackrustles | 23/09/2018 |
