Drive up to one of NATS aircraft navigation beacons. The NATS website explains their clever environmental inefficiency score they now give to all flights. This 3D measure looks at the deviation of the actual radar track a flight follows from the ideal straight line from A-B with a constant climb and descent profile to optimum cruising altitude. NATS aim being to seek opportunities to reduce aviation environmental impact, while at the same time reducing airline fuel costs. At a summer peak on 21/07/17 8800 flights into /out of UK on that one day- Today -14/03/20 just @6000 and dropping as countries shut their borders due to Coronvirus - e.g Spain and even USA - added to Flybe going out of business last week.Chris Pearson12/03/2020
