From NE walked up wind farm track after day on Foula. HP north of turbine, possibly man made so also went to HP other side of track as well.PeterD12/05/2023
Drove up track to summit at dawn as part of an all night Coastguard search for a missing person. Turned round next to 'Wendy' - all the turbines now seem to have female name plates on them. Did not do the extra few steps this time up the bank to the summit, Sun rising -nice calm morning after a tiring 2 am call out and rough moorland searching on foot. Stood down, Bed at 6.40am - missing person later found safe,Chris Pearson25/04/2021
A Double Shetland Crossing in 2 hours from the west to east coast with L along the Outnabrek to Burra Dale ridge and back again as a hill run challenge. Did it in just under 1 hour each way. From East Voe, Scalloway up steep frozen grass with quarry to right onto Outnabrek .Along the rough ridge at a half run. Fabulous viewpoint S from cross down Clift Sound. Tracks through windfarm -CALM TODAY !! (centre of a winter High pressure). Top tracks of Burra Dale - surprisingly popular with dog walkers. Cut down through golf course to the frozen seashore-then retraced our steps. Out along Dales Voe shore towers the recently arrived Ninian Northern oil platform -to be dismantled. There are @ 23,000 tons of steel to recycle. but also astonishingly 2,000 tons of marine growth to deal with (more than all the concrete used). Fascinating and lengthy decommissioning planning report is online. Lots of permit and environmental regs. to follow - with Greenpeace and others keeping a sharp eye on thingsChris Pearson04/01/2021
20.15 wind farm hill giant windmill just off the summit. Concrete plinth at highest point but not trig related. Tedious summit not helped by gentle rain plus wind. Tenth & penultimate summit of the eleven within the Maquaco-line of Scrae Field the 216m Marilyn parent, the most TuMPs in a Maquaco-line on Shetland. One left to do the other side of the main road. It can wait for dry conditions.vegibagger08/06/2019
