A Double Shetland Winter Crossing with L in 2 hours from the west to east coast along the Outnabrek to Burra Dale ridge and back again as a hill run. Did it in just under 1 hour each way. From East Voe, Scalloway (across from the deep-sea trawlers) up steep frozen grass behind the Scalloway retained fire-fighters station. Eating into the hill on right is the large Scord aggregate quarry where 100,00 tons of metamorphic schist is removed annually. It is hoped the removal of this rock will also allow a realignment of the main road descending to Scalloway and removing the current dramatic tight bend at the viewpoint (which seems a shame). A thin sheep trod along the rough ridge allowed a half run to be maintained. Large metal cross on Hill of Steinswall –diff. theories on web as to who put it there. Fabulous viewpoint S down Clift Sound. Tracks through windfarm on Burra Dale - cut down through golf course to the frozen seashore- then back again, up and along the ridge for the better viChris Pearson04/01/2021
After Hill of Berry (trig but not a tump). Parked off the road at HU 4172 3994; following quarry boundary fencing up to ridge then along to high point. Ground saturated after heavy overnight rain which continued all day.jonglew04/07/2019
