Round of Reidh, Gharbh and the SE Top. Parked in the usual lay-bye and the river was barely ankle deep after weeks of virtually no rain. Went more or less straight up skirting to the right of the wee crag and Meallan Liath Beag which is a longer route than needs be but gets you to the better ground more quickly and the views are superior than keeping to the slopes. Lovely hills with optional scrambles to add interest. Headed straight from the SE Top to the car but it felt a long, roughish way (only picked up the ATV at the very end) and glad I hadn't gone that route. Went on to do Cnoc na Creige afterwards.StueyB15/06/2023
From lay-by north of Stronchrubie. Waded river in hunting wellies then over boggy section to much drier hill with quartzite bands. Easy going to summit fine views.N.Morters26/11/2022
waded the river, stayed largely dry but thin cloud covered. One of the eastern tump tops on descentvegibagger17/09/2022
Second attempt, turned back on first time as stalking was happening, i hadnt checked before hand. Silly me. Boots off for river crossing. Massive atv track to head wall….. enjoyable.VerySlowPlodder09/09/2021
From layby on A837 at NC248200, down to river, easily across (water very low), then up towards Meallan Liath Mor, but contoured N below it, E of Loch nam Meallan Liatha, NW onto ridge and upto summit of Beinn Reidh, returned more directly towards the layby, picking up a rough ATV track at NC236204 and followed that E until it swung N, continued across river back to laybykdbennett31/08/2021
From the Geo car park between Inchnadamph and Stronechrubie. Walked a few metres down the road to a derelict gate, went through here and easily crossed the river with sandals near an area with lots of rocks (only up to calfs, probably could have got across with boots and gaiters). Walked up ridge up left side of river and then followed natural line ridge all the way around to summit. On the way back took a more direct line to the col and then picked up the ATV track and followed it to about 300m from the river crossing, then headed direct across to cross, then back along road to car. Return route was probably easier and was more direct than out route but not as interesting and scenic. 6.30 miles, 3hrs 14 walking time.JulieB26/08/2021
M J O. From cp space, straight up and then down to the loch to meet Greg fishing. Easy wade across river.Martin6621/06/2021

The last in section 16F on a glorious day. Nice walk, splendid views. Parked at the Geopark lay by, a few yards south to cross the river by a small side stream, opposite gap in the gorse. Knee length Dexshells useful, even more so if still fully waterproof. Could not face yet another ATV track, so followed deer tracks around drumlins to the prominent quartzite ridge towards Meallan Liath Beag, contoured round the head of the coire to an idyllic lochan at the bealach. N along the ridge, then W towards Beinn Reidh, lovely views of all my favourite hills over lochans and sub peaks. Direct down from the bealach on good deer tracks joining the ATV track lower down, then, when the track heads N, across the bogs back to the river and the car.Gill28/11/2020
From the layby waded the river. Good views of Canisp and Suilven from the top.NormanW24/07/2020
Wading through the river, started with slightly damp feet. Lovely rocks up the hill. Fabulous view at the top. With Jontallblond26/08/2019
From Bone Cave carpark on A837. Easy river crossing then cut across the moorland to the top. Some interesting slabs in the stream beds.Alan Moore13/05/2018

Parked S of Inchnadamph at 248200, crossed river and headed up Allt an Beithe to Meallan Liath Mor, then up Canisp. Descended NW ridge to lochan at 193196, (lovely views across to Suilven), then crossed narrow strip of land inbetween two lochans at 197199. Crossed at Feidh an Leothaid at 211200 then climbed to SE ridge of Beinn Reidh. Around N tip of Loch na Beinne Reidhe to Beinn Gharbh, then a detour to the north top at 216227 for a lovely view to Quinag across Loch Arkaig. Followed the string of lochans to SE of Beinn Gharbh and then the Easan Dubh down the hillside. Picked up landrover track (not on OS 25000 map, but shown on Harvey's map, though it goes much further up the hiil side) back to the car.Clive G14/05/2015
My last Marilyn in region 16. Hoo-reidh. Waded river at NC24794 20222, worth staying with rough track up to first ridge at NC22524 20554; turn right and then left over a series of mini-tops to the main summit. Good views all round.Martin R12/06/2014
Late start today due to wet weather and Gordon Adshead's whisky and Chris Watson's poor whisky drinking. From ESE after river crossing, good views during improving sunny afternoon.Dugswell207/06/2010
Middle Marilyn on walk - after Canisp then over to Breabag. Potential for wet feet at river when returning to the A837.mae06/06/2010
up from road at Stronchrubie, picked up Beinn Reidh on way and main summit, back to startnordicstar11/04/2009
Park on verge at Stronchrubie. Over gate on rough tussock over swamp looking for a bridge that wasn't there. Both feet wet crossing with 3 or 4 steps across steam. Very large hillside covered with white stones to second visible horizon after a mile. Past a small lochan over dry hags on direct line and red rocks to top at 12.05. 4 or 5 golden plovers making danger calls.arranc17/06/2007
