From road end followed left side of burn on cattle track. Then crossed the burn and followed sheep tracks to a fantastic summit where we were joined by fellow bagger Keith. Invited into their van for a welcome cup of tea on return.Crumblie202/06/2023

From the road end, up track at the side of the house, through 2 gates. Becomes a cattle trod and then across to the burn whilst still ascending. Impressive cliffs.iangalbraith19/08/2022

From Gatrigill. Easiest way, our return, was sheep tracks on North side of Gatrigill burn. Start past large farm building, through upper part of township ruins ( 2 fences and a gate), cross burn and over small, locked, rusty gate. Tracks can now be followed to old field system. From there head for ridge left of summit, good cliff views, or directly to summit. Spectacular summit and fantastic viewpoint, worth heading north a short distance for view back to summit and cliffs. Here for the trigpoint TP:UK log: I half read the route in my Trig walks in Skye guide book and noted 'family friendly'.....unless it's the RW clan not sure any family I know would say this was friendly? Walk Highlands says 'A rough moorland and clifftop walk and is more accurate. Parked at Galtrigill, walked through 2 sets of farm gates, past a sheiling (NG 17935 54370) and then headed in the general direction of the trigpoint across rough ground. Crossed a barbed wire fence (NG 17031 54511) and the Galtrigill Burn (NG 17046 54542) and again headed for the trigpoint which was clear on the horizon. Once at the trig I was accompanied by a bird of prey, not sure what? I headed back in more or less the direction I came but on the left hand side of the Galtrigill Burn. Should have retraced my steps as I had to cross another barbed wire fence and negotiate some very soggy ground near the burn lower down the slope and cross it, definitely a 'don't try this at home moment'thejackrustles11/05/2021
Normal start point from the road end and a fairly easy walk to the trig. It’s only when you’re there that you see the stunning aspect of the summit. The cliffs literally fall away at your feet for over 300 metres. To top it all a golden eagle took off just before we got to the summit. Outstanding.Peterb28/04/2021
From the road end at Galtrigill across the Moor. Stunning views from summitMatt290119/01/2021
Parked at the end of the road, then out west on gentle slopes to the exciting top over the cliffs. 6 of 7Simon Winton13/03/2020
Approached with caution from the road end Galtrigill due to 60mph winds, thankfully aimed at the cliffs rather than behind. Up the immediate track then a faint path to old abandoned back house. Over rough moorland to start then picked up old runrig field system, finally short grass to summit. Dull approach maybe, but spectacular cliff top summit. Clear save the occasional hail squall. 3/4 MarilynN.Morters22/02/2020
From Galtrigall. A sunny calm afternoon to stand on the cliff edge summit.NormanW04/06/2019
Out & back from road end at Gatrigill. Had a very close encounter with the resident Golden Eagle. Fantastic experience. On own.MorecambeMonkey21/05/2019
Described by GmacT beforehand as the “Hill of Doom”. It was grand as I motored up to the trig point until I suddenly realised the 300m sea cliff drop! Met 7 other walkers.elizyanne19/04/2019
From Galtrigill. Due to the burn being in spate I used a tractor track, SW from the last house, via 3 gates on the S side of the Allt a Ghille. There was one taught BWF to cross about half way. A 'rock', half the height of the adjacent trig point kept very slightly changing shape, then spread out enormous wings as a Golden Eagle lauched itself into the air. It later came back with its mate as reinfocement to investigate me. The 'drop off' of the cliffs is fantastic, less than a metre past the trig point.Isbjorn16/01/2019
From road end at Galtrigill. Up track then animal paths, crossed stream at about 150m and WNW to summit at the top of awesome sea cliffs.Topographer5724/11/2018
Parked at the road end at Galtrigill. Walked around the perimeter fencing against the burn which was in full spate. Still had a couple of fences to get over but higher up the lazybeds make for a much easier ascent. Spectacular top with great views. 90 minute return in decent weather after a dreadful day. Galtrigill - Once we have navigated past last farm on the road we ascend through old field / irrigation systems then the heather (bit of a slog) in the afternoon heat. The trig marks the summit with a sheer drop 1m beyond down to the Atlantic (The Minch) lay on the grass to look down over the edge. Followed cliffs down to Dunvagen Point the back to Galtrigill.briandavies27/04/2018

A wet and windy day. No view from the top.prwild01/06/2017
parked up to sleep the previous night at NG 181 545 (double palindrome grid ref) Wake really early to a beautiful dawn and decide not to try and get to sleep again. On car radio, sad to hear about the devastating suicide bombing in Manchester Arena previous night. Started 5.15am at road end gradually rising to Biod an Athair the most westerly of Skye's Marilyns. Trig pillar at 314m. One cant walk down the other side of this mountain. There is no other side. One metre from the trig pillar I lay down on the machair and stared down 1029feet to the Atlantic ocean part called The Minch. Contiuing my anticlockwise walk down off the summit towards Ben Skriag, a mum sheep runs away from her lamb that stays standing there. It had ochre coloured mucousy bits still stuck to some of its fur. I reckon it had just been born and hadn't found it's legs yet. The on SE to Ben Ettow then north back to the car.vegibagger23/05/2017
From Galtrigill road end across tedious wet moorland. The sensational summit situation more than makes up for the slog. Went on for Ben Skriaig, with Colin Crawford.Chris Peart20/10/2016

With Jenx from road end at Galtrigill. Up hill on track due west. Ok for 1km them cattle area v churned up. Avoid on way down taking lower line. From stream v good lines through old lazy beds/pasture to upper slopes. Great atmospheric cliff edge location, one of the best.nordicstar07/02/2016
Interesting remains of lazy beds and blackhouses. Loved the trig perch.jenx07/02/2016
A splendid cliff top walk in the rain.Gill02/01/2016
from road end galtrigill track then open ground to the top cracking summit view down cliffs.robertphillips25/04/2015
Parked next to an old black house ruin at Galtrigill where there is no fence onto the moor. Windy conditions meant we were blown up hill and grateful for the trig point on the edge of the world to hold on to at the top. Continued along the cliff tops to Dunvegan head and back to Galtrigill. Shame it was so windy, as we didn't dare to get too close to the cliff edge, but the views of the wild sea, which had been whipped up so much that sheets of water were stripped off the surface, were unforgettable. Missed the arch shown on the map.mindlessflogger15/02/2015

Moorland not boring! Too much cloud to appreciate the summit view though. The actual summit right next to the trig point provides an exhilarating place to stand in a strong wind.Martin R27/02/2012
Moorland walk from Galtrigill. Very windy on the summit.JohnW25/04/2010
ran in from no parking area. shocking drop to the sea!tom smith01/04/2009
Parked at Galtrigill. Heard 1st cuckoo. Rough track due west to a green trod around the hillside through heather over wire fence to cross stream to green area with shielings. Skylark. Uphill on easier green paths through short tussock to column 9357 at 14.20. Right on edge of sheer cliffs. Loch Dunvegan, B Bhreac, and the 2 Tables. Peregrine sat on next prow of cliffs.arranc10/05/2008

Date is first visit. Notes from later...dramatic seacliff summit, pleasant moorland tramp. galtrigill roadhead 181546, stiles then moorland RHW12/06/2000
Went to Neist Point and Waterstein Head first, then drove to Galtrigill and followed a burn across the moor to the great sea cliff. We followed the top for a short distance then returned back over the moor. We knew nothing of relative hills in 1998 but were attracted by the prospect of standing on a 1000 ft sea cliff. Cloud base around 1500 ft but we had made the most of the day.pwheeler18/05/1998
