| Park in quarry cutting at start of mast service track. Track to mast then follow deer fence E across the shoulder to the next major fence post(NB2219,1558). Cross fence and follow fire break S for 70m then break through 5m of trees on RHS to gain open grassy ride to summit. | Having read others’ advice, we parked at the entrance to the aerial track ( not mapped carpark) and followed track to aerial. We then went east along and crossed the deer fence when aligned to summit, plunging into a tedious wind- felled jumble of pines for c 100 m to emerge in grassy clearing of summit. On descent we took a better route ( recommended) east down a ride ( mapped on 1:25), through c 3 m of trees , then north on another ride to the deer fence at NB 221155, then back west to the aerial track over boggy grass and peat. | From car park (NB 2172 1528), gravel track leads out from rear of CP to deer gate, good track to quarry - for an 'easy roadside bag' this proved a little troublesome - went up and out of back of quarry and made it up from there. Top tip: wear waterproofs if it's been wet - long grasses and trees soaked from overnight rain. | jonglew | 28/09/2019 |
