Logged Descriptions  (logged by 33 users)ByDate of Ascent
From the main east west forestry track it is straightforward. You can either head to the far western limit of the forest crossing the fence on an ATV stile then following a vague ATV track down to the Gonachan burn, and up the faint ridge from there. Once off the metalled forest track the going is rough, boggy, tussocky swamp, though it is better after the burn. OR use the logging tracks to drop to the burn below the Kailrine hole. There's two, the first drops on the R soon after coming to a felled section of forest, and the second is about 100 or so yards after that. That latter one is less encouraging at the start but brings you down in a series of down, left, down zigs to the bottom W end of the felled section, with little brash. You should now be fairly near the fence that comes down from ARET, simply follow that to fence junction, an open gate space and head left to the summit. Much quicker, easier and more pleasant!Belfarm 14/10/2023
4 of 4 from the radar track.robertphillips11/03/2023
From Allanrowie then on to the excellent Dunmore from where a steep grassy track leads down to Quarry Road in Fintry.sclater19/06/2022
Parked on verge at start of radar track. Holehead, Hart Hill, Kailrine Hill, Allanrowie and Allanrowie East Top. Was going to include Dungoil until it disappeared into the mist. Slow going over tussocks and heather with no paths for most of the way.TRG31813/10/2021
From B818.Parking for 5 cars on the bridge over the Balglass Burn. An ACW walk mostly on ATV tracks. Ascend by Mount farm then around Corrie of Balglass to the summit. Descend to Head of Balglass farm which is mostly derelict.bjewing11/04/2021
From locked gate on B822 Crow Road and by forestry track beneath Dungoil to western edge of forest and up to AET. Returned over Dungoil and on to Gartcarron Hill and GHET. A satisfying round but finding track to GHET was slightly problematic.lordtonult06/03/2021
Circuit of plateau, underfoot conditions appalling.thekirkie pirate17/02/2021
Fine approach along Corrie of Balglass, mist bubbling up from the depths and granting me a brocken spectre. Easy grassy plod from thereColin Crawford25/06/2020
Round of 4, Holehead, Kailrine, Allanrowie and E.top. From Muir Toll car park. Path to just S of Kailrine hill, then hideous hags. Slightly better to Allanrowie, grassy across to E.top. Return by striking SE to the forest, digger track halfway SE to the original track and home. Nice day out at last.iangalbraith11/06/2020
Long plod from Earl's Seat and even longer plod back to Strathblane via Drumbreck rewarded by stunning views from W to NE. Miles of tussocky heather on bog with good tracks from N of Drumbreck.Thearlaichdubh02/07/2019
allanrowie east top and dungoil parked at locked gate off B822, good track for 3.5 km open ground to AET, back along track then small grass path to dungoil, steep descent to trees and track.robertphillips03/07/2018
From Holehead Hill. Followed fence for a bit, then headed across rough moorland. Several fenced off pools of water encountered. Back via about 2.5km of forest road, across the burn, and contoured round back to car. About 2.5 hrs.Minto20/05/2017
Park near track to radar dome then bagged Holehead trig, Holehead, Kailrine Hill and Allanrowie East Top with Chris The Bear. Return via the forest track for a 17 km trip in 5 hours of sunshine.Dugswell207/05/2017
As dugswell2 except I didn't bother with the other tops.chrisbien07/05/2017
