Logged Descriptions  (logged by 25 users)ByDate of Ascent
Across from Dochrie hill. Thankfully it easy enough to get to the HP. Conifers well spaced and little wind blow.Andrew Simmons03/02/2024
Parked at entrance to Stronachie Forest (NO 07035 07835). Headed SW along the road to entrance at old quarry the meandered through the clearings to reach open ground before following the fence line until a suitable avenue through the trees to the summit. Returned to fence and crossed open ground to Dochrie Hill then followed tracks and fence to Whitehill Head. Descended to Baulk of Struie then followed muddy ATV track back towards road and start.Tonester13/02/2023
From a newly prepared loading area , the trees will be down soon. Past a windthrow area on a road and uphill at a junction following a couple of rides. Easy getting about in the trees.fasgadh05/02/2023
The marked firebreaks are clear for the best part but northwest of the summit is mostly windfell. As said elsewhere, it is a mature forest and is navigable. Easiest to come from the east and go down westward to the road.Belfarm 20/05/2022
Parked at NO 070078, walked SE down road to gate at start of forestry track. Ascended ENE through trees and followed forest rides to north of summit. Trees around the summit are mature and easy to walk through but no obvious top and GPS struggling with no view of the sky. Descended NW and W to pick up forestry track back to the road.TRG31828/10/2020
Wandered up the track SE of Stronachie. Veered off up to Dochrie Hill before rejoining track NE of Knock Wood. Found a fire trench through the trees and ambled around the summit to make sure I hit a high point. Back via the track.summitter08/05/2020
dochrie hill and knock wood from parking at track entrance to the west. trees are mature.robertphillips27/01/2019
Walked over from Dochrie Hill, up a couple of firebreaks, then through thicker trees to high point. Good crop of toadstools there !NormanW01/09/2017
P at sharp bend. N along road to track. Round Knaggour then diagonally up 350m contour. Grassy track heading SE then up to Dochrie and then across to Knock Wood which has an indistinct top.chrisbien02/04/2017
From Dochrie Hill. Suggest it's easier to do the round of 3 hill clockwise, leaving this till last. Entered wood via ride as shown on 1:25K map, just as summit field to east starts heading downhill to the north. Easy navigation along the rides to X roads NNE of summit. Trees easy enough to walk through, but no obvious highest point, Descended NW via rides easily enough to the disused quarry - now the start of a forest road for major logging activity. Looks like the landscape could change drastically in the near future.Minto30/12/2016
Took the track to Dochrie Hill then walked along the forest edge until a fire break on the brow. Slashed and hacked a route through to the top, which looks like an ants nest!Play2End20/03/2016
Parking by quarry then firebreaks to summit area (good underfoot but some ducking and dodging). GPS tracklog crossed the spot height on the map but no clear summit marker or location on the ground. Easy exit east toward Dochrie Hill.alda21/06/2015
After Dochrie Hill. Entered summit wood via narrow grassy strip starting from the highest open ground to the E of the summit. Soon reached second (horizontal) strip. Turned right there for a few metres prior to heading up and left to top. Trees easy enough to push through but a lot of wandering around to be sure of the HP.Lindsay M03/05/2015
From 073076, hard track at first, then lesser tracks. No summit marker or GPS signals found in thick, flat spruce. On to Dochrie Hill.Topographer5721/03/2015
