From Couston, round of Henderston Hill, Back Drum, Kinpurney Hill, Hatton Hill. Easy ridge walk from Back Drum. Area SW of Kinpurney is covered in gorse, so if continuing to Hatton Hill, descend in SE direction and make for square wall at Edderty then south to a bridge over the Denend Burn. | Topographer57 | 14/01/2024 |

A lovely route from Black Drum. Back down The Den. | Play2End | 08/01/2023 |
Ascent with the family. Parked at the swingpark in Newtyle. Got the wee one off the attractions and followed the trade route of the road to Denend, burnside until the open hillside is reached. Up in about an hour and down is less than 2. Not bad going after our big pizza lunch. | ragudave | 14/04/2022 |

Good day out in the Sidlaws. Starting from Balkello Woodland up to Craigowl. Then over to Kinpurney Hill (avoiding Boggy Seat). Back to Auchterhouse Hill and finishing up with Balkello Hill. | Fife Walking | 31/07/2021 |
Parking discouraged at huge farmyard (miserable b......) but there is room to tuck in adjacent to farm entrance - NO307420. Lovely walk, especially thru' wood. | carole engel | 11/05/2021 |
Fairly steep ascent on icy ground at this time of year but rewarded by the views at the summit. Added bonus of a nice woodland and stream walk leading up to the hill from Newtyle. | SteveeMac | 01/01/2021 |
From Denend, up the Den path through gates to top. Snow and ice and many families enjoying the walk. | NormanW | 29/12/2020 |

Parked on verge just E of Denend, next to double gate into field. Sign stats no parking in farmyard for walkers. Clockwise round of four: Kinpurney Hill, Back Drum, Henderston Hill, Hatton Hill. Up the footpath to the top for this one. | Minto | 03/09/2017 |
Ascent from the west at Newtyle village, up to the tower and descent to the wast. | brandybordeaux | 21/07/2017 |
Parked just before the footpath sign on the verge, not the greatest parking but really didn't have any other choice. Headed up to the den which was a lovely walk along the burn. Then for the steep climb up the hill. First bit is the worst and then it levels out a little. Fantastic views from the top. | thejackrustles | 25/02/2017 |
Lovely walk from Newtyle. Parking in village beside playing fields on denend road. Marked path up through the Den and onto hill. | hils | 09/01/2017 |
Nice walk up from Newtyle in the autumn sunshine. Further than it appears and steeper in the upper parts as well. Pleasant by the stream in the trees but a bit windier on the top. | Walker Dan | 02/11/2016 |

From the east side of Newtyle and up The Den. Cloud starting to roll in on the summit to restrict views, especially to the south. | Windy Corner | 18/09/2016 |
