After Eilean Heasta, parking by cattle grid at top of the village. Followed fence line before it gave out, but there's a baggers' trod that leads all the way up, lost it with 400m to go and took a direct line steeply up. 3.6km round trip, just over the hour. | jonglew | 04/09/2023 |
From the old quarry. Usual small skye hill terrain, no tracks other than sheep tracks. Returned via the village, in the rain to a wedding procession! | iangalbraith | 27/05/2023 |
With Dave Roeder. Parked by the sheep pens at the entrance to the village (18:40). With previous logs in mind, kept well right of the direct line to the hill to avoid gullies. Trackless, but not too difficult. On return, followed a faint track NE along the edge of the plateau to beyond the outflow of the loch from where the descent was a bit easier. Finished 20:20. | dbb | 11/05/2023 |
Slip slidin’ away.…Parked in the small quarry NE of the sheep pens and walked down to just before the cattle grid. Crossed burn, W, then up bovine-holed morass to join FP on true R bank of burn, beside BWF. Followed outside of BWF for about 600m, on bits of FP used to access water supplies to properties. Then aimed more or less direct, using AnTx, or maybe a forming FP, no difficulties, but through boot sucking, boot filling, water-logged terrain almost all the way from the tarmac, only the last few metres before the top was not a squelch. In descent, beware the faint FP which leads to the true R bank of the Allt na Breac-leathaid, which quickly ravines (cross to the L bank before it does). Recommend you do not wear your best boots – nail some old tat to your hooves. | Isbjorn | 22/02/2023 |
Parked at the sheep pens by the sign as you enter Heasta. Heathery but fairly easy ascent. On return took a more direct line back to the road - a mistake as there are deep, scrub-filled gullies blocking the way. | govanah | 16/09/2022 |

Finally, after Baggus interruptus last year so that we could get to the slipway for Scalpay (don't ask...). A nasty early start from home gave just enough time to bag this hill and get to the Uist ferry with 3 min to spare. The voie normale from the cattle grid. I found a couple of frustrating deep stream valleys with bushes blocking the best crossing points on the way up, but much easier to find good lines on the way down. Ground improves to reasonable higher up. | Gill | 11/10/2020 |
From Suardal along track to Boreraig on mountain bike to 623179. Then up to the south of the small stream towards the summit. Initially the vegetation is awkward, but it rapidly improves with height. | Winterfloodian | 08/09/2020 |
From sheep pens at Heaste. Faint animal and old wall tracks over heather moorland. Rounded cairn visible isn’t the summit which is set back near a well made conical cairn. Dry 1hr and reasonable view despite the cloud and late in the day light. | N.Morters | 21/02/2020 |
After the aborted walk on 19/05/2019 when the Scalpay boatman called I retraced the walk from the sheep pens and completed. Just over one hour return with great views. Solo. | bolton | 29/09/2019 |
As others from Heasta. Wet in places and midges came out to play. Great views from top. | NormanW | 17/09/2019 |
From roadside at North end of Heaste. Can follow fence and animal tracks most of way to summit. 70 minutes return. Great views to Blaven and Cuillins as well as Rhum and Eigg. | willyross | 25/04/2019 |

With Rob Wight in low cloud/ mist. Parked by fank/ cattlegrid at sign for Heaste, then walked to bearing west. Massive cairn. 90 mins | alexmaclennan | 24/05/2017 |
From the cattle grid, an improvised route, mainly on sheep trods, although Rick's old wall was useful at times. | Chris Peart | 15/10/2016 |
With Cnoc Carnach from the cattle grid. Carole went on to the trig while I went for the car. | jimbloomer | 11/06/2016 |
With Jenx from Heaste after the Belig walk. Park at top of village by cattle grid and take fence line over the beck to gain old wall line. Follow this and various faint paths to gain summit. Two cairns, both giving good views to Cuillin and the SW coast, the Western top is highest. | nordicstar | 11/06/2015 |
parked just before heasta easy ground to the top. | robertphillips | 24/04/2015 |
Parked near cattle grid, took direct line up to summit. | AndrewFinnimore | 14/05/2014 |
Start: Shore Cottage, Ord. Notes: ascended with Emily using Canadian Canoe to cross Loch Eishort. All other hills were shrouded in mist. The trip back was a little 'choppy'. | raffemeister | 10/05/2013 |
With Mora, from Heaste | BLACKHILL | 29/04/2013 |
Started at road end - there is something about starting from the sea, you feel you have done the whole hill. Didn't rain all the time so managed to glimpse some views. Complicated hill. Ended up walking down someone's long drive. | Martin R | 01/03/2012 |
Climbed in good weather with JdF from just above Heaste. | Man of Kernow1 | 05/06/2011 |
walked with jo | tom smith | 26/09/2010 |
Over wet sludgy moor to visible horizon, then to another. Around to right to avoid losing much height. Very heavy going in tall heather. Past two large lochans. Mild peat hags. True top a prominent 5' tall beehive of stones. 14.35. | arranc | 11/05/2007 |
Parked just before Heaste to avoid the enclosed land. Fairly easy going to the top. | garyhoney | 20/06/2006 |
