From Pairney all the way to the high point of the track. From here ATV track to Beld Hill 365m, then ATV andsingle to Ben Effrey. Single to Craig Rossie and Trig. S on path to Beld Hill 412m. S past fence gate junction and up fire break between large and small conifers to Simpleside track. Up Simpleside Hill which is easy grass path from track. Back down track to The Slack where Banekist Burn was crossed just S of some deciduous trees at widening of track. East of craggs to ascend Rossie Law, easy but steep, could see straight through trees. REversed route and out on track past Tarnavie. 2 field edges and back at Pairney. | Lynnebe | 11/11/2023 |
From the forest road to the two trees, willow and gran. Then easy access to The Slack and ascent from east of the crags. Much easier than anticipated and a very pleasant ascent | fasgadh | 22/01/2023 |
Walk from home. Very short length of 3 by 3 timber near summit! | richtea5040 | 06/12/2020 |
Circuit of Craig Rossie, Ben Effrey, Beld Hill, Simpleside Hill & Rossie Law, from Pairney Farm. No obvious route to summit: from the Slack at 998122 it's not too hard to go up through the trees. | TRG318 | 04/03/2020 |
4 tump round craig rossie, beld hill both tops, rossie law, thornley hill, from parking in layby 400m west of the farm, track past farm straight after the quarry through gate and up small path next to fence to top of CR along fence to BH, left Bh south top and went south straight down through mature well spaced out trees near small pond next to track, down track to the slack, small section of trees to top of RL,returned to track and along minor road to farm used gate opp for TH. | robertphillips | 23/01/2019 |
From Beld Hill, down a tree felling track. Over the burn and up to a gap in the trees at 99739 12279. Short scramble up steep slope to summit. | NormanW | 26/11/2017 |
Along track past Tarnavie Cottage. Unpleasant down and up (Banekist Burn). Along The Slack and up faint path. | chrisbien | 19/09/2017 |
Although much of the forest has been felled, this tricky little hill is still protected by its larch and pine ruff. A chink in its defences lies on its south slope - giving relatively straightforward access besides scree and tree. | summitter | 12/03/2017 |
From forest road to W, after Craig Rossie. Descent to and crossing of Banekist burn is easiest from two deciduous trees (birch?) as noted by Alda. Once at The Slack, either climb up from a stunted larch, to a clearing, then up at the W end of the crags. Or continue E along The Slack and up between a gap in the trees on a faint path to the E of the crags. Easy return along the forest road to the B road, and back to Pairney. | Minto | 05/12/2016 |
Up the very steep and prolonged track from the minor road. Cut across towards The Slack but ended up hacking my way up in-between the trees to get to the summit from the S.W. Came back down to the E via The Slack; easy. Great view point. | Play2End | 29/07/2016 |
Parked at end of Tarnavie track to NW. Trees around Banekist Burn have been felled so route ok, no tree trouble, just a very short rough felled area west of the burn. A good line is just after two trees left standing on east of track opposite The Slack (the clear area south of the summit). Steep but ok from there, with faint path up. | alda | 27/12/2015 |
From track at 994123 on way down from Craig Rossie. Not a long detour, but terrain is rough and steep. It is mostly clear but there is some tree scrambling. | Topographer57 | 16/12/2014 |
