A cold, wet, windy, low visibility day so chose what should have been a straightforward easy route around these low hills. However, encountered barb wire fences, live electric fences and boggy ground.
Route from Dunning along road then up through Hog's Wood on to Roeglen Hill (young trees planted around it). Explored all three bumps. Then across to Cleavage Hills which is where the bogs and fences were. After Cleavage Hills more electric fences to reach Montalt Hill. Down to farm track, out to road and back down the hill to Dunning. Road walking actually felt quite pleasant (and I usually hate road, hard surfaces). | Fife Walking | 10/03/2024 |
Parked at start of track to Montalt Farm, getting a friendly wave from the farmer as he passed on his quad bike. Easy walk along the track before entering field via gate then heading to a junction in the fence where electric cables dropped enough to allow me to atep over! Headed to the summit and admired the farmer's memorial to his parents(?) before returning by same route. Only took about 20 inutes so very easy as long as you avoid touching the electric fence. | Tonester | 09/02/2023 |

Parked carefully at Montalt Farm road end. Up track and cut left, picking a route through wire and electric fences to the top. Returned via White Knowe.

Back to the car, chatted to the very amiable farmer who was waiting for children being dropped off the school bus. | TRG318 | 28/10/2020 |

p at track entrance, along track 1 gate and a electric fence to step over to the top. | robertphillips | 27/01/2019 |
Easy from Montallt access road, paddock grazing in use, but temporary electric fences were easy to straddle over. Shorter legged folk beware! Farmer was checking up, very friendly. | fasgadh | 03/06/2018 |
Good spot to park just up the farm track at the edge of the former forest. | summitter | 31/12/2017 |
From the Montalt farm road end. Memorial at summit to family of current farmer. Chatted to the wife who is walking friendly. | NormanW | 01/09/2017 |
Parked on verge of minor road to S between forest to N of road and forest to S of road. Easily crossed broken fence, small stream and low fence to head directly uphill to farm track. Gate onto track near trees and parked trailers. Then gate on left to field with summit. Memorial plaque on the boulder near the summit, which can be seen from the road. | Minto | 30/12/2016 |
