Cycled to Malcoms Bridge then up path to coll between Orval and Fionchra. Easy path up through crags then grassy stroll to summit. Very, very windy on top. Returned by same route.KevPalmer29/06/2017
From bunkhouse via track and Ard Nev first...dry but cloudy to summit. Decent via West towards Bloodstone hill and track outN.Morters18/06/2017
From Kinloch along good, unsurfaced road then a well constructed old path from Malcolm's Bridge. The old path has gone to seed in places but has good stretches too and was well worth following. Steep, easy nose up to Orval from bealach- clear use of this route. It was nice to keep to the edge of the cliffs on the W for views, on the final, gentle pull to the summit. Continued over Ard Nev and back to Kinloch.pwheeler03/06/2017

With Darren, after 6 hours sleep in our little tent in the middle of nowhere up early to continue our challenging 40km peak fest around the island in an enjoyably tough 26 hours between ferries. Sadly in cloud after yesterday's heatwave. The slender Orval pinnacle (which has been climbed) lies on the northern cliffs- claimed to be 100 feet or 30m high in some reports - could it be a tump?.Chris Pearson26/07/2012
Solo. From Kinloch Castle along track west to NM359993 where I joined path to Bealach a' Bhràigh Bhig. From Bealach up N ridge to summit of Orval. Continued to Ard Nev and Ard Mheall before descending to track from Harris and on track back to Kinloch.pwbellarby22/04/2012

Long walk along the track on the south of the glen. After an hour, start of an excellent dry stalkers' path leading gradually uphill to small grassy bealach before the hill. Steep grass slopes up to a craggy area to find a small human path up through rocks to more steep grass above and to column 9770 at 12.00. Cairn 100 m away built before the pillar possibly higher. Canna and Rum peaks from a different angle. Harris bothy and mausoleum. Very large goat with curled horns.arranc29/05/2010
