From fab parking at Piperdam Loch, along good path N side then signposted route up Blacklaw Hill and Trig. ATV tracks to BH W Top. More good track curling N, NW, S to gate and path through forest to track to minor road. Up Ballo Hill from mast track opp Thrawparts. Short grass W down to wooden fence at hole in wall. Easy to cross under bw. Grass and track SW to South Ballo. NW down to visible wall gap to cross stream to forest track. Anticlockwise loop, all pathed to Northballo Hill. Retraced steps then zigzag down to Lairds Loch. At W end of loch carry on N ish over low fence and up soon obvious track near edge of wood. Cross easy fence to summit Hill of Dores. Retrace return to Loch lovely lunch spot. Out to Tullybaccart CP then S down road to Littleton. Good track E to Redmyre. Here we crossed 2 fences but if we had stayed N of fence maybe better. Past Redmyre Cott and easy gates to Dron Hill. Rtn N of Dron , Balruddery to Piperdam. Superb 22km, 500m ascent. | Lynnebe | 22/11/2023 |
