Straightforward if slow thrash/ walk anticlockwise around rim from West top. Shoulder high bracken with nettles. HP obvious point on rim with steep drop into quarry, west. All quiet on a sunny Sunday. Onto Dumbowie.Denise 11/07/2021
From the N, slow going through chest high grass, bracken and nettles with a hint of bramble and increasing drop to the W.RichardM11/07/2021
From Overton House car park (NS 4259 7603). Barwood Hill -> Dumbowie. After which dropped S to col and worked a way up onto the quarry rim, keeping just below as quarry in operation. Popped up onto rim at NS 42292 74826 as potential alt HP. Back off the rim and along to NS 42273 74777 which would seem to be the HP. If Barwood was a rhodo-fest and Dumbowie was a gorse-fest, this was a bramble/briar-fest... what a trio of hills! Looking forward to the West top.jonglew26/04/2021
After regrettably failing to climb Dumbuck Hill West, I headed back up the quarry road and joined the ridge from the north. Then walked along getting cut up by the nettles as I went. Eventually got the peak and had a rest at what was my final hill for the day. Went back down to my car via a clearing of the thorns and over a fence then into a field that took me to Milton. 3/4 ain’t bead. I’ll return to Dumbuck West with climbing shoes at some point.JAdair9717/04/2021
From Dumbowie to crater rim to view Dumbuck West Top. Followed rim to summit feeling solid underfoot as temperature didn't rise above -2C. Descended towards A82 and round to view West Top from the west. Seems possible but not today. Returned to car at Overtoun House via mast/tree.lordtonult13/02/2021
After Dumbowie and Dumbuck Hill West. Without question the most hellish terrain I have ever endured on a hill. Followed rim after inside of quarry track through bracken, nettles, thistles and brambles every step of the way. 5 mins turned into almost 20. As Minto says, best done in winter, or with 3 layers! 8ft high bracken back to car. No sleep that night as the nettle stings had got through my jeans!iangpark18/07/2020
From Dumbowie, onto upper quarry track to S end of the crater rim. Then a tricky and slightly exposed traverse back along it through neck high wet grass, bracken, nettles and brambles.sclater04/07/2020
on the way home from working in dumbarton, barwood hill, dumbowie, dumbuck hill.robertphillips23/04/2020
On the way back from airport after Portugal tripBigNick03/11/2019
From Dumbowie, down to col and up & round edge of quarry all the way to the end. Back down via col and FB at NS 42580 75069, south from here a short distance then over wall to road.agentmancuso09/02/2019
From Dumbowie. Up newly landscaped slope from col to quarry road. Then onto arête around quarry rim. Very hard going in long vegetation - best done in winter.Minto15/07/2017
From NNE as others, via Dumbowie. HP rocky cliff edge at S end of rim, or grassy bumps 60m to N could be as high.RHW04/06/2017
After Dumbowie round rim of quarry workings.neimcv01/03/2017
round of barwood hill, dumbowie, dumbuck hill, from car park at overtoun house.robertphillips10/02/2017
After Barwood and Dumbowie. Nice airy ridge. Best done at weekend when quarry isn't working. Fine viewpointThearlaichdubh18/11/2016
Across the col from Dumbowie (two barbed-wire fences), then up a grass slope and left to the summit along a faint path which traverses the arête that is the quarry edge. Wide views supplemented by the sights and sounds of a working quarry. Back to the col, then round below Dumbowie to the transmission mast and down into Dumbarton to catch a train. Warm and sunny.mainnirnamfiadh31/03/2016
Ex-trig point ticked, but didn't reach the highest point for the hill bag.Aqyx28/02/2016
19.55 up from housing estate road to the south east through scattered gorse clumps and bluebells to the NE ridge right along the edge of the quarry. Highest point right on cliff edge with 4/5cm drill holes in the rock. Fine lovely evening but with quite a chill windvegibagger25/05/2015
Eastern edge of quarry. Through brambles in wood during SE approach. On to Dumbowie.campagvelocet29/11/2012
Date approx. The original summit (547.3ft) had a trig pillar and a wartime lookout post beside it. They demolished this building in the late 1960`s to stop us from playing inside it.bjewing01/06/1966
