From Beneraird. Big Fell and then Smyrton Hill | colazione | 03/12/2023 |
From Miljoan via Beneraird in occasional sleet. Back over Beneraird to Kilwhannel track, with diversion to Big Fell. Top c50m W of cairn. | agentmancuso | 18/01/2020 |
4 tump round, big fell, kilmaroy, visited 3 possible high points, beneraird, smyrton hill, from parking on verge at kilwhannel. | robertphillips | 09/08/2018 |
After Cairn Hill of the Moil. A long haul up vegetated slopes alongside the forest was followed by truly awful spongy terrain en route to the summit, probably the cairn but there are other contenders | Colin Crawford | 17/06/2017 |
2nd hill of 6 today and 1st log for this hill on a route from Barrhill station to Ballantrae using forest tracks and turbine access roads to get close before climbing to High Murdonochee then Cairn hill of the Moil, veering off on forest ride to climb to the subsidiary promontory of Benaw and then onto Kilmoray. Lovely hill with excellent views to Ailsa Craig, surprised that it hasnt been logged before given its proximity to Beneraird but heather and bilberry is deep and it is definitely energy sapping. Dropped down to 'Nick of the Liberty' but had lunch in a bilberry hollow first. Continued along fenceline to Beneraird. | Dazingdale | 17/05/2017 |
