Parked at Dumclog Off-Road Centre, S of Geil Mill, at NS 6507 3589. Gate locked but good spot for the car outwith, without obstructing quarry traffic. Hopped the gate and followed quarry boundary fencing until meeting old track from Bankend at New Mains (NS 6475 3491). This might only be feasible if the off-road centre is closed as used a lot of their vehicle dirt roads. From New Mains, good forest road for 500m to mapped break in forestry and then directly up.jonglew06/03/2024
Parked by the farm buildings to the west of Shieloans. Ground conditions were horrible marshy most of the wayAndrew Simmons04/01/2024
From the minor road to the north.Tisteln16/08/2023
Solo. Parked at the Drumclog Off-Road CP. Note - only really possible during the week or at the weekend < 9am or > 6pm. Followed paths as close as possible to the boundary with the quarry. Eventually you'll hit the old path leading from Bankend which has now been mostly obliterated by the quarry. Take this as far as an opening in the trees on the right and follow the line of trees to the top. Good luck with the sitka spruce bash required to access the marginally higher ground should you be so inclined.MickyRoss20/05/2022
28km run from Loudoun Hill CP - Mill Rig, Wedder Hill and Distinkhorn. Left public road at Bankend and skirted quarry, which has absorbed track shown on OS. Track exists once in forest, but left this and followed forest edge up from SE. Found summit, then descended firebreak immediately W of top - ATV track remnants higher up, then pathless but quick route back to track. Only short section through forest.quadbarrel21/03/2021
Followed the Chris and Colin route from NW. Wind and rain and diversion into the trees to make HP.Thearlaichdubh28/12/2018
as chris and colin parked double gates opp cabin track along woods to near ruins, then up through wet marshy ground to the top last 30 m into the trees.robertphillips21/06/2018
From nr Burnhead Fm via Distinkhorn, into trees due E of Distinkhorn & along forest track to firebreak that leads up to the fence line a few hundred m W of top.agentmancuso24/03/2018
Hill number six for today - not enjoyed. Followed Chris's route past the ruin, after which very long grass and tussocks prevail. the going is just about tolerable if you adhere closely to the forest fence - there are the vaguest of vehicle ruts if you keep your eyes peeled. The final tree thrash is unpleasant but necessary. Fortunately, it's short and not the worst of its kindColin Crawford17/09/2015
P track W of Shieloans - decent to ruin then boggy thereafter.Gate at fence Jnct 332m. Distinct rise within the forest but flat topped.chrisbien04/05/2015
