Logged Descriptions  (logged by 8 users)ByDate of Ascent
After Craigairie Fell. Followed forest road to quarry at base of hill. Followed the fence behind the quarry, up the east flank of the hill, to the summit. Tiny cairn and nearby tree stump are of similar height. Back same way, then forest roads to the car, near Darloskine Bridge. Solo.Dangerous Dave18/10/2023
Drove up 700m past Derry to park NX 2575 7338 as summer vegetation just encroaching across the track too much. Craigairie Fell first, from there headed due N to pick up the track at the disused quarries, forest not too bad. Continued on until due E of the top then up side of quarry. Chose a HP a few metres NE from the tree stump, near enough on the spot height.jonglew23/08/2021
far cairn and benbrake hill from the west parked near CG at county boundary.robertphillips06/12/2020
From Far Cairn, dropped down to windfarm track & followed all the way round to E side of Benbrake at quarry. Went straight up from there, quarry edge, patch of clearfell but not too bad. But much easier to stay on road to SW extreme of quarry & come up clockwise round edge, as discovered on the way down.agentmancuso21/07/2020
Drove on beyond Derry from the SE on an improving track after completing Craig Airie. Past the wind farm quarry to within 500 mts from top then up over demolished forest and replanting. Tough going. Summit is currently a large tree stump which will rot. NX 22817 74783. Plenty of wind farm personnel around but uninterested in my presence.Campbell Singer03/07/2018
Circuit of White Fell, Benbrake, Craigairie and Big Craigenlee from road near Glenkitten Fell. There's a vast new wind farm, whose tracks helped enormously. Benbrake now clear felled, turbine on one side, quarry and construction base on the otherColin Crawford24/03/2018
5th hill of 6 today and 1st log for this hill on an elongated loop from New Luce, climbing Craigbernoch Fell, Big Craigenlee, White Fell and Far Cairn, dropping down East side to meet up with turbine access road that profiles around flank. Veered off to climb direct from Western side over felled forestry that has a distinctive chequered appearance from afar. Summit is a previously forested knoll close to solar powered weather receiving station. Summit is close to felled tree. Descent: Took track in middle of highest land that led to a shale quarry with huge drop so traversed this till steepness lessened to enable me to get onto another turbine access track heading for Craigarie Fell.Dazingdale16/04/2017
