Up from the wall to the NE. Tree down on track after that. Pretty rough. | sclater | 16/03/2022 |
Parked at quarry to SW (NX 3631 8416). Up S edge of quarry, from there ground rough all the way - new plantings in old clear fell. | jonglew | 27/07/2021 |
The initial belt of unfelled trees is unpleasant but the newly planted area isn't too bad. I was amused that someone has bothered to construct a cairn | Colin Crawford | 27/06/2021 |
P junc to N of quarry. Had noticed what looked like a quad track on the arial map, turned out to be an overgrown aggregate track, presumably a relic of original planting. It zigzags all the way up from immediately N of quarry to old FB line a stone's throw NE of summit. Hard to see much of the time, but a much better option than toiling over replanted clearfell. | agentmancuso | 23/07/2020 |
Drove on forestry road to the east, up through the newly planted area. | robertphillips | 08/03/2020 |
P by track between SH and AH. Left track NE of SH into clear fell not good. Back tried through the belt of trees even worse. Went too far S on AH and went straight up the obvious ridge. Easier back down on where the firebreak had been. | chrisbien | 03/07/2018 |
6th and final hill of the day having caught the bus from Girvan to Glen Trool, visited the visitor centre before exploring Glencaird, Balunton, Garwall, Brecklach and Suie hills. Extremely challenging terrain but easier access to this one via track and hill has been clear-felled. Descent via overgrown track to eventually get back on road and long trek to the House of the hill hotel in Bargrennan. Got a lift for last 1.5 miles from fellow Hill-walker (doing County tops). | Dazingdale | 19/05/2017 |
