After chat with farmer parked on hard-standing at NX 0733 6777, could have driven up to within 300m on good forest roads. There were forestry operations in progress, but beyond here. Made a 14.5km circular walk of it for the Brockloch Fell trig before and the Cairn Hill trig after. | jonglew | 02/08/2021 |
Tracks and then firebreaks from turbine 6 from parking at glenapp schoolhouse Just off A77. | robertphillips | 29/11/2020 |
Track from near Mark on A77. Track to turbine at NX09013 7286. Bad along or beside the firebreak until just after the fence on the county boundary. Coming back missed most of the bad stuff by going a bit west through a large depression which was fenced off. Near the summit the forest has been clear felled to the SW. | chrisbien | 14/06/2019 |
From A77 to the north, using track to Wee Leith Hill. New, unmapped, wind farm in operation and the old track overlaid - it ends at the same spot though. Fairly grim, wet and windthrown, firebreaks beyond, though there are signs that more turbines might be planned, with large cleared areas | Colin Crawford | 23/03/2018 |
1st of three hills today and 1st log for this hill on an 18+ mile exploration from Cairnryan house B&b to the Kenmuir Arms in New Luce. I used the track near the ferry terminal that goes past Lake Superior (not quite as big) before veering off on forest rides to visit the Long Tom standing stone and then Mid Moile, the summit is close to an intersection of forest rides. Descent on forest rides NE to exit forest then actoss wild terrain over Loan of Turcloy to Shennan to Main Water of Luce. Next hill: Stab hill. | Dazingdale | 15/04/2017 |
