From Polmaddy (a great place to overnight in the Delica). The OS map shows a footpath from the ford at Polmaddy running south to very near the top. That path is now overgrown, very rough and boggy in many places. We found it much better to stick to the forestry roads initially, heading west 200m from the ford before turning south. Then join the bad path at 5938 8722, for the short slog to the wall. All good from there. Great 360 degree views from the top.Toby-and-Dion06/01/2024
I went up the forest track from Polmaddie but didn't go as far as the clearfell, finding easy passage below the mature trees of the remaining plantation. Then an obvious grassy track led to the top, a wonderful viewpoint for the Rhinns of kells and Carsphairn HillsColin Crawford08/03/2023
Drove forest road to NX 5938 8721. Walked from there. Ground initially very bad - old clear fell replanted - but once over forestry wall nice well-established atv track to top.jonglew20/04/2021
Summit area in rough grass, great views. Old cairn not quite at summit.Adrian17/03/2019

1st of 11 tumps today. Leaving my large rucksack at Gatehouse of Fleet i caught the 1st bus to Castle Douglas, changing for the 520 to Carsphairn, alighting near the Power station then up via sheep tracks to the top. Descent to the forest eventually finding a connection to the Polmaddy settlement paths leading me to the Polmaddy bus stop in plenty of time for the next bus for my 11 tump loop to Dalmellington.Dazingdale10/10/2018

Parked Polmaddy. Track through forest, across cleared area, then wall. Open hillside, sheep pasture, up to Summit. Good viewpoint. With the F.C.The Captainblank
