From Newtonairds not nice pushing through conifers to get to the HP | Andrew Simmons | 30/03/2023 |
Parked at Newtonairds, track entrance (NX 8810 8012), plenty of room for 1 maybe 2 cars. Killyleoch Hill, Cats Craig, Far Dundrum Plantation first. Entered the forest at NX 8862 8150, followed mapped track SW to its high point looking for the wall, which doesn't really exist, then a ~200m push through the conifers, not pleasant. Returning to the car, the mapped track I intended either doesn't exist, or I missed it; ended up following an excellent unmapped track starting at NX 8838 8092. An interesting 11km round. | jonglew | 09/12/2020 |
far dundrum plantation, steilston hill, cats craig from 895 831 | robertphillips | 30/08/2020 |
P as for KH. Track round the hill and into tough tree bash from N. Reached a top about 150m NE of summit and followed highest ground. | chrisbien | 22/05/2018 |
From Newtonairds, using excellent tracks. After an easy, steep push through open trees, the summit thrash was an unpleasant surprise, though the small green rise in the tiny clearing is obvious | Colin Crawford | 12/12/2017 |
From Killyleoch Hill, skirting W side of lochan then up NW slope. Fierce battle with the vegetation. Easier on the way down SW back to track. | agentmancuso | 01/07/2017 |
Approached from west then NW. Lower slopes generally open birch woodland with a few paths and trails. Finally followed decaying/ moss covered ruinous wall to small grassy hummock at summit. | cjo | 21/05/2017 |
