Up to the monument then along to the HPAndrew Simmons31/03/2023
From the Monument CP, but the long way round via Knockendoch, Criffel, Boreland Hill, Meikle Hard Hill & Tannock Hill. Miles of horrible heather, then much easier on forest road. Wayne's GR for the old FB is sound, avoids any real clearfell work. Climbed the monument then creaked down the path back to the car.agentmancuso25/03/2022
Approached Waterloo Monument from north by good path from just before Carsegowan. Best views are from tower top. Reasonable going over felled woodland to Tump HP. Returned to New Abbey by usual route of ascent.lordtonult13/07/2021
As others Up the path from the small CProbertphillips23/04/2021
From the Waterloo Monument. Followed track from here to a clearing where we set off across the felled area of trees to the summit which itself the highest point is a tree stump. Then found the track through an old forest firebreak back to the original track from the WM. The best place to strike left to the summit which is a lot easier is NX 95041 65255 where a large log on the ground marks the spot to head to the summitWayne Mac16/04/2021
We walked up the steep path to the monument and after that walked over to Glen Craig first on a good track then over some rough ground. I was with my grandad, dad, mum and little brother.williamglew28/10/2020
From small car park, up steep track to Waterloo Monument, then on a good path towards Glen Craig before veering off and taking an old fire break over rough ground.jonglew28/10/2020
Parked in the small free car park at the foot of Waterloo Hill. Easy stroll up steep steps to the monument, but too windy to go right to the top of the monument. Views from Waterloo Hill are limited due to tree growth. Strolled over to Glen Craig, which has been clear felled so it's quite easy to reach the summit and there are great views - don't know how long it'll be before it grows back up again though.wheresthepath21/08/2020
The path up to Waterloo Monument is surprisingly draining, with lots of stone steps which are far too high for comfort. Path and track from monument then up through the brash to the clear felled summit. Returning, I found a vague logging trail which led easily back to the track. I've marked the point at which to leave the track with a wooden arrow by a long log which borders the road. The track is confirmed later by two upright wooden offcuts which someone has erected on stone slabsColin Crawford08/08/2020
As CJO but then took track SW then S then NE where it ended at fence. Through forest back to car.chrisbien31/05/2017
Via waterloo monument, steps to the top of tower worth exploring. Summit has been clear felled so good views.cjo10/05/2017
