Impressive 10 m high tapered stone memorial to Nielsen, who patented the hot air blast method for iron smelting , which significantly improved efficiency. Short walk all from free riding centre carpark.Denise 19/04/2022
From SSW. Drove road from visitor centre, becomes roughish, thru a gate, realised it's wrong road, found parking NW of summit (SW immediately after gate, NX683603 would be better) then 10mins to top, rough underfoot, not particularly recommended!RHW13/03/2022
Parked at riding school visitor centre. Excellent paths up to Obelisk and round making an easy 2 hour loop. Farm tracks, footpaths and a few short sections on quiet road. Exceptionally well fenced-off from livestock and all gates etc good for dogs, but the routes are used by the riding school so during day dog would have had to have been on a lead.catlovesmaps03/08/2021
