Through the trees after grey hill not a great route, awkward wide ditch full of water in a fire break to get across. | robertphillips | 22/05/2022 |
From Grey Hill. Bit of a nightmare this one, some rough ground initially that has the capacity to be very wet, but dry at the moment thankfully. Headed into the forest at NX 2675 5369, much easier through trees. Picked up logging road due S of that GR for ~150m before heading over clear fell to the top. Wandered over to the 122m spot height as it looked interesting. Picked up farm track at NX 2602 5325 on the return, but in addition to clear fell there was a lot of other awkward ground and dense bracken to get there. The second worst hill of the day after Boreland Fell which really took the biscuit. | jonglew | 29/07/2021 |
From Grey Hill, not advised due to boggy ground. The forest track looked good, better to come in from teh south as far as its a good track then turn right and in a few minutes you will be at the summit. | Adrian | 19/03/2019 |
5th hill of 6 today on a circular route from Glenluce, climbing Barlockhart Fell, Craigenveoch Fell, Knock Fell and Grey Hill descending SsE then South into the forest then Ssw on a forest ride, then SE and Sw before arriving at an open area and a Bilberry/heathery, bracken knoll. Another two high points visited about 20 metres away inside the conifer tree cover, each about 15 metres away from each other. Descent SW to exit forest and enter rocky outcrops, separated by dense bracken gullies. I fought my way South slowly eventually finding an overgrown track that i followed to the A747. Next Hill, the Mull of Sinniness. | Dazingdale | 31/07/2017 |
